Cedar Lodge is a lovely family home that occupies a prime position on a quiet, leafy road just 1.5 miles from the historic city centre of Bath. “I moved here just over twenty years ago when I was offered a new job,” says Julian. “My employer was based in Bristol, but I liked Bath rather more, and it was a simple commute, so this is where I decided to live. I think what initially attracted me to Cedar Lodge was the garden and the position of the house. It’s set well back from the road, has substantial grounds and it’s directly opposite parkland so it’s wonderfully peaceful, and yet within a few minutes I can be right in the city centre or be walking in open countryside.”

This attractive home dates back to the early 1950s and built with Bath stone, but over subsequent years has been beautifully renovated and well maintained. “I’ve done quite a bit of work to the house since I moved here,” continues Julian. “I had a new roof put on, replaced all of the wiring, had the drains overhauled, double glazing installed and had a large double garage rebuilt, and then inside the house I had a new kitchen put in and made sure that the décor was in good condition.”

Cedar Lodge is a comfortable home with spacious rooms and a bright and airy feel throughout. There is a sizable kitchen with attached utility room, an elegant dining room for entertaining friends or family, and a large living room that flows beautifully into the pretty sunroom, which also provides a wonderful connection with the attractive garden beyond. There is an easy flow from room to room, providing the ideal layout for busy family life.

The house sits at the end of a long driveway, which enhances the wonderful feeling of privacy. There is a large lawn to the front, which sweeps around the southerly end of the house to another sizeable area at the back. The grounds are surrounded by a mature boundary of trees and hedging, so the property has a wonderful feeling of peaceful seclusion.

“I have to say the location is absolutely superb,” says Julian. “Weston Park is just across the road and Victoria Park is only a short walk from here. We are close to the Priory Hotel with its wonderful dining room and we have some great schools nearby, including The Royal High School. Getting around couldn’t be simpler: there is a good bus service, and a mainline train service.”

“This has been a lovely home for the past twenty years,” says Julian, “very peaceful and extremely convenient.”*
