WELCOME!

Westminster PCA Mission:

reaching people to know Christ,

equipping believers to obey Christ, and sending disciples to advance Christ’s kingdom. This Mission includes:

God’s Word - God’s Family - God’s World Ministry Vision: A community of believers actively showing and sharing the love of Christ. Ministry Mission: To provide encouragement and relevant opportunities to the congregation to serve others out of their love for Christ and their neighbor. Hello, Thank you for picking up Westminster’s Gifts-Based Serving Guide. I’m so excited that God is working in your heart to help you discover your purpose for serving Him through opportunities at Westminster. As you look over this guide, keep in mind that the reason for these opportunities is because there are many who have gone before you who stepped out in faith to fulfill the plan and purpose God had for them. 1 Corinthians 12:27 tells us, “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” Those who have gone before us have played their part, now you are ready to play your part! I pray that God blesses you through your service. May you experience Him in a very real way, sensing His presence with you as you seek to honor him in your work. I look forward to serving with you! Sincerely, Jocelyn Richardson [email protected]

How To Use This Guide

This guide has been arranged by the different areas within the church in which you can serve. It highlights the spiritual gifts that make a good fit with each ministry. It is not required that you know your spiritual gifts before you begin serving nor that you serve in an area where you are gifted. The purpose of listing ministry opportunities in this book is to help get you familiar with them, help you find a good match and encourage you to take the Spiritual Gifts Assessment so you can find our what your gifts are. We hope this guide will help you find your fit in God’s plan to serve Him and others. With each opportunity is listed: The name of the ministry team A short description of the ministry opportunity The time commitment The spiritual gifts that make a good fit for the team Once you have made a choice as to where you’d like to serve, you can fill out the form at the end of this guide and drop it in the offering plate or send it to the church office (420 N. Main St, 16001). You may also e-mail the contact person for the team. We realize it may take several tries to find the perfect fit. It’s okay if you start with a team and decide it’s not for you. Someone will walk through the process with you until you find something that IS a good fit.

Spiritual Gifts

What is a spiritual Gift? A spiritual gift is a special ability, given by the Holy Spirit to every believer at conversion. “ As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace” 1 Peter 4:10 (ESV) Who receives spiritual gifts? Every believer receives at least on spiritual gift. “each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another.” 1 Corinthians 7:7b Why does God give spiritual gifts? God gives believers spiritual gifts to serve others. “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another …” 1 Peter 4:10a What are MY spiritual gifts? They are all given by the same Spirit which means that your gift is equally important as the gifts of anyone else. All of us and all of our gifts are needed to build the church. To discover your spiritual gifts, call me Jocelyn Richardson at 724-283-4204 to arrange a time to meet.

MINISTRY TEAMS

Westminster Church (PCA) is passionate about doing ministry in the name of Christ. The greatest asset and resource for our ministry is the Holy Spirit at work in the lives of our people. Part of our congregational mission of Reaching, Equipping and Sending involves helping our members discover and use their Spiritual Gifts in cooperation with others in the Body of Christ engaged in love-motivated service.

Westminster Church (PCA) seeks to minister using a biblical team approach to ministry. Our overall ministry is organized around the Great Commission utilizing the Spiritual Gifts and the ministry callings of our people. We have an acronym at Westminster called WONDER, which helps us remember the six major ministry areas that Christ empowers in a healthy church committed to His Word, His Mission, and His Glory!

Each major ministry area is overseen by a Leadership Team made up of laypeople who in turn lead individual ministry teams. This promotes collaborative efforts as well as the opportunity for people to grow by being fully supported while using their gifts in ministry. Each Ministry Team encourages people to serve God by serving others.

On the following pages, you will find our Ministry Teams. They are listed in order of our WONDER Congregational Ministry Structure. Under the heading of the Leadership Team, you will find the Ministry Teams with Leader followed by the suggested Spiritual Gifts.
