Hosted by Six Star Speckle Park Inc.Formerly Notta Ranch Jason & Sara GoodfellowBox 307 Neilburg, SK S0M 2C0P: 306.893.4620F: 306.893.4341 [email protected]

Welcome to the first, on the farm, Speckle Park sale at Six Star. The Speckle Park breed has gone from strength to strength over the past year with one amazing result after another. Speckle Parks won the Calgary Stampede Carcass in 2010 and yet again this year in 2011. If you are starting in the purebred side of Speckle Parks, expanding your involvement or just trying Speckle Park genetics for the first time, I can personally recommend this draft of cattle. Together with John and Dale Herbert and Barry and Elaine Ducherer, we have put together some tremendous bred cows, bred and open heifers, 4H steer and heifer prospects. Having Spots ‘N Sprouts and River Hill at our side creates a world market opportunity for our customers. Don’t miss this chance to get started with genetics from the three main breeders that have been supplying the Speckle Park demand worldwide. On behalf of the Elite breeders may I wish you all the best with your purchases and have a safe trip home.

From the desk at T Bar... Welcome to the inaugural Western Elite Speckle Park Sale, hosted by Jason and Sara Goodfellow. The beef industry has definitely turned the corner and put the past eight years behind us with tight supplies around the world, it looks like it will be a long, fun ride. The Speckle Park breed is in a inevitable position within the seedstock industry. It is in the expansion phase and no other breed can say this, as the breed gains favour with feedlots, packers, restaurants and owners around the world. It will take a very long time for there to be any surplus of quality Speckle Park cattle. As for the sale offering it is full of top quality opportunities to expand or enter into the breed. The consignors are all leaders and pioneers, who are responsible for the breeds success to date.

Plan to be with us for this great event! If we at T Bar C, may be of any assistance, prior to the sale or on sale day, do not hesitate to give Ted of myself a call.

There is a legend in every breed, and he was it. He accomplished more than any other bull in Speckle Park history. His progeny are still #1 in the show ring and in carcass competition around the world. A Lacerta son, who was also a full brother to Notta Romeo 64R, sired the Champion Carcass Steer at the Calgary Stampede in 2010. After gathering all the breed plan data, Lacerta was tagged #1 sire. He was rated best for birth weight and performance in Australia and New Zealand. We plan on seeing the best calf crop out of him to date this spring. Don’t miss out on the chance to buy semen on this legendary bull.

In 1979 when Bill and Eileen Lamont, founders for the breed, asked us to winter 15 cows for them, we never dreamed the outcome. We have seen the breed achieve goals beyond our wildest dreams in the last 32 years. As the only original members of the CSPA left in the association we can say we have seen itall - achieving distinct breed status in 2006, winning Calgary Stampede carcass competitions, placing in the RBC Supreme Show at CWA, seeing exports of embryos and semen abroad and a constant increase in interest in the breed. Spots ‘N Sprouts sale animals have started several of the Speckle Park herds out there and we hope the animals we are offering in this sale will be the beginning of something good for many more cattlemen. We wish to thank Jason and Sara for hosting this first Western Elite Speckle Park sale and are thrilled with the opportunity to take part. We wish both buyers and sellers the best of luck on sale day.

River Hill Farm is a family operation run by Barry and Elaine Ducherer, along with daughter Carla and son Cory. It is located in the Battle River valley between Maidstone and Neilburg, Sask. Established first in 1975 as a mix farming operation, it has grown to encompass the Speckle Park breed. In 1995 we purchased our first Speckle Park heifer as a 4-H project for our daughter Carla. Since then our herd has grown to 50 papered Speckle Park females. We strive for calving ease, performance and easy fleshing animals. We run 100 head of commercial cows which we breed Speckle Park. We find the calves finish out at 650 to 750 lb. carcasses with excellent marbling. In 2005 we purchased the herd of Prairie Hill Ranch. River Hill currently enjoys business relationships with breeders Canada wide, as well as Australia, New Zealand, England and Ireland, exporting embryo’s and semen. Here at River Hill we pride ourselves on diversity and breeding that will fit anyone’s program. Everyone is welcome for farm tours.
