PART I. General Sanitary Provisions.Keeping of Swine.

By-law No. 34.This By-law is amended by the ad-dition of the follawing words: " without the consentin writing of the Local Authority."

PART IV.Dairies and frill' Shops.An additional By-law is added, as follows:4a. Any person keeping one or more cows within

the district of the Local Authority, and not coiningwithin the definition of "dairyman," shall forthwithmake application to the Local Authority for a permitto keep such cow or cows within the district, and shallat the same time pay a fee for such permit of 2s. Gd.per head for such cows, which permit shall operate onlyduring' the current calendar year and must be renewedannually: provided that the maximum amount to bepaid by any one person for such permit per annumshall not exceed the suns of One pound.

PART X.Offensive TradesSection AGeneral.Schedule D.Fees to be paid on application for regis-

tration of offensive trade premises.Schedule D is amended by the addition of the wordsand fish shops" to the words "fish curing. establish-

ments."PART XLPrixate Morgues.

The following additional By-laws to be added: -1. Any person who intends to open or conduct any

premises as a private morgue for the temporary recep-tion of the bodies of the dead, and for keeping suchbodies for the purpose of view, examination, or otherlawful purpose before burial or cremation shall, beforeopening such premises make application for registra-tion thereof as a private morgue, and shall pay a feeof £2 2s. per annum, and application for renewal ofsuch registration shall be made annually. Every licenseand registration effected under this By-law shall operateonly during the current calendar yeas'.

2. No such license shall be granted in respect of anypremises unless

(a) The walls thereof are constructed of stone orbrickwork, or other approved material ; and

(b) The interior surface of the walls is coveredwith glazed tiles or is rendered with some im-pervious material to be approved by theBoard, so as to be non-absorbent and wash-able; and

All floors are constructed of some imperviousmaterial to be approved by the Board, suchas granolithic or glazed tiles, laid upon abed of 4in. concrete, having a fall to anoutlet discharging over a trapped gully; and

(d) The premises are adequately ventilated bydirect communication with the outer air.

3. No such license shall be granted in respect ofany room, the dimensions of which are less than 10ft.by 9ft. by 12ft. in height.

4. No such license shall be granted in respect ofprivate premises, unless the site thereof is approvedby the Board, or if the same are within 20ft. of anydwelling house.

Penalties for breaches of By-laws.5. Where anything by this part of the By-laws is

directed to be done or forbidden to be done, or whereauthority is given to ally officer to direct to be doneor to forbid anything to be done, and such act sodirected to be done remains undone or such act for-bidden to be dOne is done, in every such case the per-son making default as to such direction and prohibitionrespectively, shall be deemed guilty of a breach of thispart of the said By-laws and every person guilty ofa breach of this part of die said By -laws shall

guiltyliable

for every such offence, besides, any costs or expenseswhich may be incurred in the taking of proceedingsagainst such person guilty of such offence, to a penaltynot exceeding Twenty pounds for every breach of anysuch By-law, or to a penalty not exceeding Two poundsfor each day during which such breach shall be com-mitted or continued, and in addition to such penaltyshall be liable to pay to the Local Authority any ex-

pense Mcurred by such authority consequence of anybreach or non observance of any By-law, or in theexecution of any work directed to be done or executedand not so executed.

IT is hereby notified, for general information, that HisExcellency the Governor in Executive Council has beenpleased to approve of the cancellation of Clause 39 ofthe General Regulations for the Guidance of Surveyorsand the substitution of the following in lieu thereof,to take effect forthwith:

" At every angle of a location, allotment, etc., con-taining all area exceeding 10 acres, reference pegs shallbe paced on the true alignment, on not less than two ofthe permanent boundaries diverging from the post. Inany subdivision into allotments containing 10 acres andunder, reference pegs shall be placed as the SurveyorGeneral may direct. Reference pegs shall be placed ateach angle of every isolated block, irrespective of itsarea.

"A reference peg shall not be less than 2 inchessquare and 12 inches long and placed, where possible, ata distance of 5 links from the post, the top of the pegbeing sunk flush with the natural surface of the groundor the bottom of the trench. Glass or iron spikes half-inch diameter and 10 inches long may be used insteadof pegs, at the option of the Surveyor."

WHEREAS it is desirable to continue the operationof Section 10 of "The Wheat Marketing Act, 1916 ":Now therefore I, the said Governor, acting with theadvice and consent of the Executive Council, do herebydeclare that Section 10 of the Wheat Marketing Actshall continue to have effect until the 31st day of Octo-ber, 1918.
