News & Prayers West U Members: Ralph Arnold has been placed on hospice care at the Memory Care Unit at the Village of Meyerland. Beverly and the family welcome the extra care Ralph will receive. Pray for peace and strength for the family. Debra Norris asked for prayer as she enters the next legal phase of getting justice for her Daddy’s death in this life. Josiah Oliver for the legal issue at work. Also that I be an effective witness at my cousin’s wedding. Juan, co-worker of Josiah: was involved in a five car accident 3/16/16. He is okay, and his car is only scraped. Praise God for his safety. Prayer needed as the clot does not seem to be improving. Robyn Wilmott: prayer for final exams at art school, to test out of classes to graduate by next May, and for work on the house she's moving into to progress as needed. Ragan Rogers in Vancouver, WA: that she could enjoy the view of every step she takes in the right direction, even if the path is not as straight as she imagined it. Worship - 97 Contribution - $4,643.08 Coins for Christ - $321.82 One of the greatest blessings of being a part of a church is watching children grow up to love the LORD. When we were searching for a church to work with, we wanted a place that felt like home. When we interviewed here, we loved West University because it felt like a church that would love us and love our children, helping them grow up to know and love the LORD. That is one of the main reasons that the McGraw family came to Houston. As Moses is leaving his last words with the people of Israel, he speaks to them of the importance of passing on their faith to the next generation. Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise…” (Deut. 6:4-7). For Moses, nothing was more important than passing on a legacy of faith. We are to teach our children “diligently” so that they can grow up to proclaim the LORD. This isn’t just about us lecturing, but about a routine in which children participate in faith. In an article she wrote in 2013, theologian Phyllis Tickle wrote about the importance of ritual and routine with our children. When they are little, it is about doing things with them: singing songs, reading stories, praying. These routines set the stage for then they are older. Then we all sing; we tell stories, and they tell stories; they see how faith shapes our lives, and faith shapes their lives. And this deepens their faith, and ours as well. “And of course, it is by the employment of them for our children that we teach and renew ourselves, even as we are teaching them.” Today we stop to celebrate our children. Next weekend we have 19 children and teens going to participate at Leadership Training for Christ (LTC). They will be participating in Scripture reading, drama, puppets, art, service projects, speaking, and other events. Dear participants, we are thankful to have you presenting your work to us today. We are thankful for the way God is strengthening faith within you. We want to encourage you today because you are such an encouragement to us! God bless you at LTC this week. One of the greatest blessings of being a part of a church is

watching children grow up to love the LORD. When we

were searching for a church to work with, we wanted a place

that felt like home. When we interviewed here, we loved

West University because it felt like a church that would love

us and love our children, helping them grow up to know and

love the LORD. That is one of the main reasons that the

McGraw family came to Houston.

Children Prepare

for LTC

Nineteen children from our congregation are

working hard to prepare for Leadership Training for Christ,

which will take place on March 25th & 26th this year.

The group will be travelling to Dallas.

Please prayerfully consider sponsoring one or more of these

children to help with the cost of their trip. Each child has

$200 in travel expenses and fees for LTC.
