Musica Viva-Datiwuy Dreaming Students, parents and teachers were entertained by an aboriginal cultural dance group this week. The children were enthralled and engaged throughout the interactive performance. We welcomed our Regional Senior Education Improvement Officer, Mr John Stone and our Regional Koorie Education Support Office, Ms Julianne Fraser to share in this exciting activity. Many parents were also present and enjoyed the session alongside their children. Thanks are expressed to Gina Tan, Music teacher for organizing this memorable experience for the students at Wembley. We hope to have some student reflections and photos of the day for next week’s newsletter. ICAS ICAS notes and money are due back by Friday 27th May and there will be no opportunity for late any orders. Thank you. Pupil Free Day Parents are advised that our final Pupil Free Day for this year will be held on the last Wednesday 22 June and it will be dedicated to Parent Teacher Interviews. Interviews for students in Years 3-6 will be held from 11am-7pm and Prep-Year 2 interviews will be held from 12.00-7.00pm. Bookings for the interviews can be made through Sentral, our on-line parent communication portal. Information regarding how to book appointment times will be sent out soon. Parents who have not already logged onto Sentral are asked to contact Kristen Kosowski for support in accessing this. During the morning session staff will be involved in collaborative team meetings to plan Semester 2 curriculum and review our Essential Leanings. The Out of School Hours Care Program will operate between 7.00am and 6.00pm, on the Pupil Free/Parent-Teacher Interview Day. Bookings can be made by calling Deborah or Victoria on 93149358. ART SHOWS-Term 3 2016 The dates for the Art Shows for this year have been announced and as follows for your information: Junior School Exhibition-Wednesday 27-Saturday 29 July Senior School Exhibition-Wednesday 24-Saturday 27 August. The Art Shows will take a different format this year and this will be explained to parents later this term. Ruth Branthwaite and Matt Symmons, Art teachers have been collaborating and planning the event and there will many exciting things in store for our school community. End of Term 2 The term will end on Friday 24 June with an assembly at 2.00pm. At this end of term assembly the major raffle prizes will be drawn and dismissal will follow at 2.15pm.

My interests are singing, art, music, socializing, technology and more! The reason that I wanted to become a School Captain is that I am a confident speaker, I love talking and I show all of the school values. I hope that I can help Wembley as much as I can for 2016. Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and Wembley is excited to be participating. The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to 16 years in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by the closing date of the challenge. Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books. If you would like your child to participate, please return the privacy and consent form that has been distributed to your child and attached to this newsletter. All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and can choose to have their name included on the online Honour Roll.
