A NOTE FROM FATHER ANDREW

Dear Parish Family,

I hope you are enjoying this summer weather. If you have some time during the week or the weekend to

help with the set-up of the festival it would be greatly appreciated. Remember Wednesday evenings at

6:00pm and Saturday mornings at 10:00am.

I know many of us will not like to hear this but one sign of a healthy church is growth in the weekend

attendance. Inviting a new person or a new family to join our parish is not just the responsibility of the

pastor but all of us. Remember the call of Jesus is for all of us to make disciples. Over the years we have

been trying to do things better to attract and serve people through our Sunday worship. Sounds simple

for us to do right? It may be easy to tell people to invite others, which may or many not happen. You

might say what I am asking you to do is invest in and invite. Invest some time in your brother or sister

and invite them to come and join us. We as a parish have so much to offer through our uplifting and

meaningful worship, environment, our message series, our weekend ministries. Take some time this

week and invite someone who has been away from the church for awhile to come with you to Holy Eu-

charist. Let’s grow our weekend attendance.

“Bringing an alabaster flask of ointment, she stood behind him at his feet weeping and began to bathe his

feet with her tears.” To anoint Jesus in this way was to pamper him with a luxury. But more than this

external offering, the woman also “gave” Jesus her tears. She wept for her sins, for the hope of for-

giveness, and for the love of Christ. Also, to wipe his feet with her hair was to give the gift of her humili-

ty. Jesus used the opportunity to distinguish between those who love much, and those who love little.

The self-righteous, like Simon, have little room in their hearts for love of others because they are so full

of the love of themselves. They feel they have nothing to repent for. We are called not to compare our

sins to others’ that are “worse” than ours, but rather to honestly recognize where we have failed. Then,

like this woman, we can show great love to Christ by giving him the very best of what we have.

Looking forward to seeing you on the weekend.

Have a wonderful week.

Fr Andrew

Visit our website at www.holyeucharist.org to sign up and begin donating to the church automatically.

Use the Internet for the good of the parish through this secure and convenient process. Online Giving

can be effectively used on its own or with regular offering envelopes. If you would still like to receive

envelope packets but also want to give online, you have the option to do so.

ONLINE G IVING

If you have not made your pledge yet we ask you to consider a sacrificial gift to the campaign – one that is right for you.

The response from our parishioners has been humbling. However, it is only through the participation and support of every

family that we can truly be successful. Bishop O’Connell has asked each of us to consider a small amount each month over

a three-to-five year period. Pledging allows each of us the opportunity to make a sacrificial gift that will help to shape the Church we leave for future generations of Catholic families in our community.

Suggested Gift Plans over 60 months: Suggested Gift Plans over 36 months:

$250 per month given over 60 months equals $15,000!!! $167 per month given over 36 months equals $6,000!!!

$200 per month given over 60 months equals $12,000!!! $83 per month given over 36 months equals $3,000!!!

$167 per month given over 60 months equals $10,000!!! $50 per month given over 36 months equals $1,800!!!

Thank you to all who give to make our campaign a success. Your gift to the Faith to Move Mountains campaign is greatly appreciated!

FAITH IN OUR FUTURE Faith in Our Future Diocesan Update

April was dedicated to the ongoing work of the Faith in Our Future Cohorts, as they continue to analyze

the different realities in place among their parishes and discuss what organizational models might be sug-

gested. As the schedule for Step 2 requires, the Cohorts will have met a total of six times between March

and May and will be ready to submit their suggestions to the Diocesan Planning Commission by the beginning of June.

Preparatory work has also been underway by the members of the Planning Commission, who will formally come togeth-

er from June 14 to 16 to review all Cohort evaluations and suggestions, as well as parish evaluations and data verifica-

tion forms before making their Preliminary Recommendations.

Terry Ginther, executive director of the Diocese’s Office of Pastoral Life and Mission, explains, “We have tried to place

a finance person, pastor, educator or faith formation person, Hispanic or multicultural minister, and pastoral care or so-

cial service person in each group. Most, but not all, live or minister in the county to which we have assigned them.”

REMEMBRANCE IN YOUR WILL

A remembrance in your will for your

parish is a wonderful way to provide for

the future well-being of your parish

community.

TRED, ( Trenton Religious Education Directors), is a diocesan group that gathers throughout the year to share resources

and experiences regarding faith formation. Donna Remaley, our Faith Formation Coordinator, is part of that group and

with others, attended a “ Relax and Renew” retreat last week at San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch, NJ. With a

theme of hope, joy and pilgrimage in the Year of Mercy, the retreat offered an opportunity for prayer and fellowship shared

with others in similar roles in parishes throughout the Diocese. The Diocesan office of Evangelization and Catech-

esis offers many spiritual and educational enrichment opportunities for those in faith formation ministries strengthening the

office’s mission statement to “form disciples to bring others to Christ.” Visit http://www.dioceseoftrenton.org/

evangelization-catechesis/ to learn more.
