A Tribute To All Our MothersBy: Pastor A.

Mothers are not rare to find. Good mothers are. What makes good mothers? It is a pertinent question whose answer cannot be contained within a few words. Mothers comprise of a bundle of emotions that sometimes defy reason. So this goes out to all the mothers who have kept awake all night with their sick toddlers in their arms, constantly uttering those compassionate words, Its OK honey, Mommys here. For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and cakes all while making costumes. And all the mothers who dont. For those who show up at work with milk stains on their dress and diapers in their handbags. For those mothers who cannot restrain tears from trickling down their cheeks when they hold their babies for the first time in their arms; and for the mothers who give birth to babies theyll never see.For the mothers who gave homes to babies and gifted them a family. For the mothers who yell at their kids who clamour for junk food right before dinner. For the mothers who defy all odds just to watch her kid perform and repeat to themselvesThats my child!!For all the mothers who read the same book twice a night for a year, and then read it again. Just one more time. For the mothers who taught their children to tie the shoelaces even before they started going to school. For the mothers who incontinently turn their heads when they hear the word Mom, even though they know that their kids are nowhere around. For the mothers who silently shed tears for their children who have gone astray. For all those mothers whose heart aches to watch her son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time. For all the mothers who children have become a victim of violence, and the mothers of those who were in-volved in the violence. For all the mothers who have played a dual role of mother and father. For the mothers who sit in front of their TVs in horror, clinging to their child who just arrived from school safely. So, this is meant for all the young and aged mothers, working mothers and housewives, married mothers and the single mothers, those with money and without and for those without whom life would have been insufferable. Wish you a very Happy Mothers Day!!

Health CareSubmitted By: Jasmeka ColvinThe House health care bill up for a vote on Thursday would roll back the Affordable Care Acts expansion of Medicaid, eliminate tax penalties for people who do not have health insurance and end taxes on certain high-income people, insurers, drug companies and manufacturers of medical devices to finance the current health law. Here is a summary of major provisions of the House bill, the American Health Care Act. To help people buy insurance, if they do not have coverage at work or under a government program like Medicare or Medicaid, or through the Department of Veterans Affairs, the bill would offer $2,000 to $4,000 a year tax credits, depending mainly on age. A family could receive up to $14,000 a year in credits. The credits would be reduced for individuals making over $75,000 a year and families making over $150,000.

Under current rules, insurers cannot charge older adults more than three times what they charge young adults for the same coverage. The House bill would allow them to charge five times as much. The Congressional Budget Office said this change would reduce premiums for young adults and increase premiums for older Americans.

The bill would end Medicaid as an open-ended entitlement to health care and would put the program on a budget. States would receive an allotment of federal money for each beneficiary, or, as an alternative, they could take the money in a lump sum as a block grant, with fewer federal requirements. Medicaid cuts would total $880 billion over 10 years.

The bill encourages people to maintain continuous coverage by requiring insurers to impose a 30 percent surcharge on premiums for those who experience a gap in coverage.

Under the bill, states could opt out of certain provisions of the Affordable Care Act, including one that requires insurers to provide a minimum set of health benefits, such as maternity care and emergency services, and another that prohibits them from charging higher premiums based on a persons health status. Insurers would not be allowed to charge higher premiums to sick people unless a state had an alternative mechanism, like a high-risk pool or areinsurance program, to help provide coverage for people with serious illnesses.

The bill would provide states with $138 billion over 10 years that could be used for various purposes like subsidizing premiums, providing coverage to people with pre-existing conditions and paying for mental health care and the treatment of drug addiction.

The bill would cut the taxes of high-income people by nearly $300 billion over 10 years by repealing a payroll tax increase and a tax on their investment income imposed by the Affordable Care Act.
