CBM PRAYERLINE THE HADDADS Please pray for CBM Field Staff Elie and Mireil-le Haddad who are based in Lebanon. Elie serves as President of the Arab Baptist Theo-logical Seminary (ABTS) in Beirut. Many of the students come from Arabic-speaking countries to be equipped for Christian service at ABTS. Through her work with a local Christian organi-zation, Mireille continues to serve Iraqi refugee women living in Lebanon. Please pray for sta-bility in the region, as there is mounting politi-cal tension. “Pray for peace, and pray that God will use the church as a unifying and reconcil-ing factor,” the Haddads shared in a recent update. May God’s great love bring hope and comfort to the people of Lebanon.
SHORT-TERM MISSION Last week, six members of Toronto Chinese Baptist Church embarked on a CBM short-term mission trip to Germany, partnering with local churches to serve students from China who are studying in German universities and returning to Canada on December 11. The volunteers will take part in workshops, outreach initiatives and Christmas activities. Please pray for con-tinued health and strength for each member. May God’s love and grace be evident to the students as they interact with each volunteer.
WORLD AIDS DAY December 1 was World AIDS Day. HIV contin-ues to be a major global public health issue). In 2016, one million people died from HIV-related causes globally. At the end of the year, there were approximately 36.7 million people living with HIV, says WHO. Guardians of Hope (GOH) is CBM’s strategic response to the glob-al HIV and AIDS pandemic. Through the sup-port of local partners and churches, the GOH project creates a safe place for those affected by HIV and AIDS, and provides them with re-sources and training. Please pray for the indi-viduals, children and families we seek to serve in our projects in Africa and India, for their health, protection and acceptance within local communities.
