World Space Week This is an international celebration of technology and science. It is celebrated every year. This special week always begins on 4th October because this marks the date of the launch of Sputnik I (4th October 1957).
NASA’s New Horizons Mission Pluto used to be known as the ninth planet at the far end of the Solar System. It was discovered in 1930 through careful study of images of the night sky. In recent years, Pluto has been downgraded to a ‘dwarf planet’ because it is smaller than the Moon. In 2015, the New Horizons spacecraft became the first to fly past Pluto. Detailed measurements and photographs were taken to help us learn more about it. Watch the launch of New Horizons here.
