Our parish has its very own seminarian, preparing for priesthood! Meet Jesse Leach. Have you been a Catholic all your life? No. I was baptized Lutheran and began the RCIA process in 2011 and was received into the Church at the Easter vigil in 2012.

Where was that at? St. Matthew’s in Corona. It was beautiful!

And you’ve enjoyed being a Catholic so much that now you’re thinking of being a priest? Yes. Not too long after being welcomed into the Church I started experiencing a call to the priesthood, to at least investigate it more fully.

How did God call you? The phone rang and I picked it up. No, actually God’s call came to me through a strong desire. Going to mass made me feel more and more interested and it felt like priesthood was something I should look in to.

What parts of the Catholic Church drew you the most? The opportunity for mercy. The Catholic Church has felt like a mother to me, someone to walk with me on my journey to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

How did you get involved with St. MM parish? It was through Fr. Pat. Tony Mandala recommended that Fr. Pat would be a good person to speak to about this. He had helped a number of other young people in their discernment.

It all goes well, when will you be ordained? The process takes about 8 years.

Will you be doing things around our parish? Yes. I’m currently checking out different ministries and figuring how I can be involved over the weekends. During the week I’m at Serra House, the diocese’s house of formation.

You seem very happy with your Catholic life. Do you have any advice to give young people? I would say keep an open mind and an open heart to God. Obviously everyone isn’t called to religious life. But God calls everyone to something, and he does care for you. With his assistance you will find the absolute best in yourself.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION We will spend the next 3 weeks with an

    “The MASS”

Why do we celebrate the Mass? Why do we sit, stand, and kneel during Mass? What are the different parts and what do they mean? Is the Mass in the Bible?

If you have any questions. Contact Tony Mandala at [email protected] or (909) 591-7400

On behalf of all 12 California dioceses, the California Catholic Conference of Bishops announced their endorsement of “The California Safe Neighborhoods Act,” which will appear as Proposition 47 on the November General Election Ballot. According to The Most Rev. Jaime Soto, president of the California Catholic Conference and Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento: “Despite years of effort, the criminal justice system in California remains desperately in need of significant reform. Victims are not receiving much needed assistance in healing, the State’s over-crowded prisons are under Federal scrutiny, and rehabilitation programs barely exist in the State’s prisons. An inconsistent patchwork of sentencing practices has been a major contributor to this unhealthy situation. So, too, failing schools and a woefully inadequate community mental health system are becoming merely preludes to prison. Incarceration does a miserable job of educating people and treating mental illness --- but that has become the norm for California.” “The Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act (Proposition 47) will provide educational support and treat mental illness where it can yield the best results for the communities of California. Prop 47 will eliminate the disparities in sentencing for certain non-violent crimes. It addresses prison overcrowding and sentencing discrepancies in constructive ways, and uses the savings for victims’ assistance, mental health programs, public education, drug treatment, and inmate rehabilitation. This will make our communities safer.”

Scripture Values: In Mathew 25:34-40 Jesus says: For I was hungry and you gave me food

How does this legislation/legislator provide for those who are in need of food assistance? I was thirsty and you gave me drink

How does this legislation/legislator provide for safe drinking water and holds those businesses accountable for the contamination of water supplies? A stranger and you welcomed me

How does this legislation/legislator stand on just and comprehensive Immigration Reform? Naked and you clothed me

Where does this legislation/legislator stand on welfare assistance for those who are truly in need and supports an increase in minimum wage.

Ill and you cared for me

Does this legislation/legislator support affordable health care?

In prison and you visited me

Where does this legislation/legislator stand on prison reform and on the death penalty?

Fui forastero, y me recogisteis

Estuve desnudo, y me cubristeis

Enfermo y me cuidaste

Conoce a Jesse Leach.
