Meade Stadium. Meade Stadium is home to the Rhode Island football team. The original ‘stadium’ was constructed in 1928 and named after local politician and devoted alumnus, Jack Meade, who was said to have never missed a home football or basketball game until his death in 1972 at the age of 78. Through the years, the facility has undergone significant changes. In 1978, the 50-row east grandstand was opened., bringing the capacity to 8,000, and the name was officially changed from Meade Field to Meade Stadium. In 2000, the west grandstand and field house were demolished to make room for the Ryan Center, reducing capacity to 5,2--. In 2002, the football team moved into their spacious, state-of-the-art locker room facilities in the Ryan Center, which also provided locker rooms for visiting teams. Finally in 2006, the new west stands, complete with chairback seats and access to the Ryan Center’s rest rooms and concessions, opened to bring capacity to 6,600. Tickets. In accordance with Colonial Athletic Association policies, we will send complimentary tickets tas specified by contract, behind the visitor’s bench (east stands). Additional tickets may be purchased by contacting the Assistant Box Office Manager at (401) 788-3245. Player Will Call.
