UNIFORM

Band & Choir students wear the same uniform: black pants/skirt + St. Paul’s music shirt.

Shirts are $25 and are ordered in early October. Shirts can also be obtained from former St. Paul’s

choir/band members.

St. Paul’s Junior High Choir

Choir is open to anyone who wants to join.

Once you join the Junior High Choir there are other choirs

you may be able to join.

St. Paul’s Junior High Choir•Rehearsals are from 11:30-12:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays•Students may not be required for the full hour every practice. Therefore, a weekly choir schedule will be posted•Attendance at rehearsals and concerts is mandatory. Students must speak with Mrs Coady when they cannot attend choir.•Students may eat lunch in the music room on choir days.•Students are responsible for missed work during Period 3.

OTHER CHOIRS AT ST. PAUL’S JUNIOR HIGH INCLUDE:

St. Paul’s Show Choir•Students who are members of St. Paul’s Junior High Choir can audition to be in St. Paul’s Show Choir•Show Choir is a dancing choir consisting of 24-30 members maximum. Space is limited. Interested choir members will be invited to audition for the Show Choir later in September.•Rehearsal s are Mondays at lunchtime, 12:24 to 12:54 and Wednesdays after school, 3:15 to 4:15. Students must attend all rehearsals each week.•Attendance at rehearsals and concerts is mandatory. •All students must have a choir shirt. Sometimes costumes will be required.

Instrumental Music Program

Band is open to all woodwind, brass, and percussion students

with at least 2 years playing experience.

Once you join a concert band, there are other groups that you

may join.

INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLES AT ST. PAUL’S JUNIOR HIGH

INCLUDE:

•Students receive a mark for band

•Concert Band students attend 2 band practices during class time each cycle: 1 sectional practice & 1 full band practice

•It is imperative that students inform their subject teacher that they are attending band before going to rehearsal.

•Students are responsible for making up any work missed while they were attending band

•Attendance at rehearsals and concerts is mandatory. Students must bring a note if they are unable to attend practice.

•Students may eat lunch in the band room on band days.

Band Membership

•Admission is by appointment or by audition.

•Auditions for vacant positions take place the 2nd week of September. Interested students should see Ms Pope.

•Practices are every Thursday 3:15-4:15pm + 1 sectional practice during class time.

JAZZ BAND

Admission is by appointment by the director.

2 lunctimes practices each week (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays TBA)

STRING ENSEMBLE•Open to all violin, viola, cello, and bass students with at least 2 years playing experience

•Practices are every Wednesday lunchtime 12:25-12:55pm
