Welcome to The Self-Reliance & Simple Life ExperienceThe Self-Reliance & Simple Life EXPERIENCE is family-friendly event produced by The National Self-Reliance Project, whose mission is to educate and empower our citizens, families and communities to become more SELF-RELIANT.

We accomplish this by creating an interactive EXPERIENCE on a neutral platform focused on the four pillars of SELF-RELIANCE: preparedness, survival, sustainability and homesteading, helping individuals and families find their path back-to-the-basics, resurrecting time-honored traditions and creating and embracing a simpler life filled with great adventure and peace-of-mind.

The Self-Reliance & Simple Life Experience…it’s not just another expo...it’s an EXPERIENCE!

HistoryThis is the 9th year of the Self Reliance Expo. At the end of 2017, Steffen & Kiki Bandilla purchased the Expo from its founder and formed The National Self-Reliance Project, the umbrella organization over The Self-Reliance & Simple Life EXPERIENCE (the flagship initiative).

The Self-Reliance & Simple Life Experience (previously the Self Reliance Expo) is the longest running preparedness, survival, sustainability and homesteading expo in the country, boasting a total of over 600 exhibitors and 25,000+ attendees since its inception.

The self-reliance community is stronger, more relevant and more active than ever, as it has grown to appeal to a more mainstream audience and according to research firm, MarketsandMarkets™, the Incident and Emergency Management Market will be worth 122.94 Billion USD by 2023. It is our goal to leverage that relevance, converting it into a greater opportunity for our exhibitors to connect with and educate our attendees and continue to deliver an exceptional experience featuring high quality products and services in a hands-on environment.

self-re·li·ance noun: self-relianceAbility to proactively meet one’s needs for survival, sustainability and strength by relying on one's own capabilities, judgment, or resources rather than those of others; independence and peace-of-mind.

The #SelfRelianceMeans Campaign was launched in March 2018, with the goal of starting the conversation about what self-reliance means to each individual, family and community across America.

For The National Self-Reliance Project, we define self-reliance with four 'pillars': PREPAREDNESS, SURVIVAL, SUSTAINABILITY and HOMESTEADING (aka ‘The Simple Life’).

Honest Advice from an Emergency Preparedness Industry Insider“If you’re preparing for an emergency — and you should — be realistic about your time, energy and budget. Emergencies are rare but they do happen. It probably won’t happen to you this year, but it will happen at some point. It’s not about fear, but about having your things in order. Like renters’ or homeowners’ insurance. You probably won’t ever use it, but if you need it you’ll sure be glad you have it.

Being trapped at home with no food because you’re snowed in or a mudslide took out the road would not be a fun situation to say the least. Not having alternative ways to cook during a power outage can also be a major bummer. If you don’t have a grill or barbeque, get a camp stove. No alternative sources of heat during a blizzard can quickly turn into an emergency if the power goes out. You’ll never have enough time, money or energy to prepare once an emergency is imminent. Do it now and get it over with.”

I thought it was very

well done.

Kiki and crew did a great job! I cannot wait until the next

show!

It was excellent and exceeded expectations. From our view every innovation was successful. There

was also a buzz of excitement that made it fun. ‘Fun’ correlates to

success.

Keep vendors happy - Advertise a lot. Like you did.

Saturday Sunday.

Marketing and advertising was

very good.

We thoroughly enjoyed this expo. We went home considerably lighter in the wallet because they had the items we were looking for. Thank

you so much

I have been to many prepper shows over the last 15 years. Some are good

and some are not so good. I even spoke with some of the vendors about

this show. The guy I spoke with said the show was very well managed and will

be back and so will I….

Thank you for doing this. It helped my

wife get more re-energised and

re-focussed.

This had one of the best mixes of vendors (love the mix of preparedness and

gardening/sustainable), and an exciting buzz/energy

There were a lot of volunteers this year. The blood drive was

great. Also the discounted admission to veterans. We will

definitely come back.
