On Sunday 23rd September, 15,000 cyclists will take part in the VeloSouth ride through West Sussex, passing through villages and hamletsincluding Nyewood.

If you didn't know, the current plan is for the road through Nyewood tobe CLOSED between 8.45 am and 5.45 pm. Questions on route closureare answered on the Velo South website, www.velosouth.com - and ifyou have questions unanswered by the website you can contact theRoute Team at [email protected] or phone 01243 935 359.

The scale and numbers of cyclists will mean road closures across the fullroute, so it's best to check the website and make your plans in goodtime - plus consider parking your car off the main route.

NEW LAND PURCHASE FOR NEW SITE

Option will increase the new site by 65%

Allowing for more landscaping and screening of the new hall

After years of dialogue and protracted negotiations, a new purchaseoption for additional land at the new site (adjacent to that securedalready) was entered into by the Trustees in June. This has been a long-stated aim and will increase the area of the whole site at the northend of the village by about 65%.

This will allow for the proposed new hall on the new site to be movedfurther away from the nearest house, and for improved landscapingand additional parking spaces.

It will not result in any increase in the size of the proposed hall building.

ECOLOGICAL SURVEYS

First phase complete on the old and new sites

The first phase of the Ecological survey covering both the old and newsites have been completed.

There are no issues concerning the new site, but further investigationsare required on the old hall site concerning bats.

We will keep you posted as results are brought to us.

FULL SURVEY REPORT PUBLISHED

Full report of Nyewood Community Survey

The full report of the Nyewood Community Survey has now beencompleted, capturing all the findings of the survey.

This was produced by Mike Imms, independent market researchconsultant and follows his presentation of the headline results at theHenry Warren Village Hall Club AGM in May 2018.

This is available for reading and downloading in pdf from the villagewebsite.

VILLAGE BOUNDARY

No change in village boundary

There was a proposal to adjust the parish boundary so that the Industrialestate and the houses immediately north of the old railway line wereincluded in Harting Parish, to which they naturally belong.

This was turned down by the Rogate Parish Council because they didnot wish to incur the expense involved.

This decision will not affect the new village hall project in any way.
