I announced that MOH would be looking into setting up Community Health Centres and Family Medicine Clinics. We are also working with the Social Sector to bring (rehabilitation) services closer to the community.

Health Minister, Gan Kim Yong (2012)

"There's a very close connection (between health and social needs) for the elderly“… "So this is really the roll-out of a decentralised model of providing social support and health support for the elderly in Singapore, and especially, the low-income and vulnerable elderly.“

Deputy Prime Minister, Tharman Shanmugaratnam (2012)

This is not sexy, glamorous medicine, but is is how we can help Singaporeans look after their elderly, look after ourselves when we

are elderly, look after our healthcare costs. We have to think about the whole system,

provide the right treatment at the right place to patients with different needs.

Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Long (2009)

Leaders are seeing this convergence of health and social needs
