Welcome to the Cove School Summer ProgramJune 13 - July 26, 2019
Dear Families,
The Cove School is proud to off er a comprehensive summer school program taught
by highly qualifi ed teachers. Classes are held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Core
academic courses are off ered in the morning. Electives and the majority of specialized
instruction are off ered in the afternoon. Please go to www.coveschool.org and
click on “Cove Summer Program” to register. Registration is due by May 17, 2019.
Summer school at Cove is a unique experience for students with learning disabilities
and meets a variety of needs. Some students need to maintain previously learned
academic skills while others need remediation. High school students may need
additional credits while others might attend because it is a requirement by their
school district. All students are off ered the extended time to practice social skills.
Whatever the reason, The Cove School meets the needs of the individual student.
All classes have a maximum of ten students. They may attend one, two or all three
morning classes, and one or both afternoon classes. Attending classes in the
afternoon only is also an option. Full day attendance combines the academic classes
in the morning with integrated activities of interest in the afternoon.
There will be no school on Thursday, July 4th and Friday, July 5th due to the holiday.
In order to receive credit, high school students are required to attend 27 out of 30
days and complete a fi nal exam. If a student is absent more than 3 days, in order
to receive credit, a specifi c plan to complete ESY assignments must be developed
by the student and his/her teacher(s), agreed upon by parent(s)/guardian(s) and
approved by ESY administrator.
Please acquaint yourself with the course off erings. We look forward to seeing you
on June 13th!
Sincerely,
Regina Aniolowski Alex Laube

Sample Schedules
EnrollmentPlease read the course selections carefully. Registration is due by May 17, 2019.
A schedule will be sent home just prior to the fi rst day of summer school.
All students (district funded and private pay) should fi ll out the online registration
form found in “quick links” on the Cove website at www.coveschool.org. In addition,
all new students need to send the most recent evaluation of the child and a copy of
their most recent IEP, if applicable, to the Cove School offi ce. This will allow staff
to review the child’s information to make sure that we can adequately meet their
needs. Private pay students must mail a non-refundable deposit of $200 made
payable to the Cove School by May 17, 2019. The balance of tuition is due
June 28, 2019. This deposit is refundable in the event that the student does not
attend the summer program.
All students need to register for summer school even if they attend Cove during the
regular school year.
Incoming juniors and seniors in high school can enroll for internships at local community
businesses. A job coach will be provided as necessary, and special permission is required.
Please contact Alex Laube or your child’s transition counselor if you are interested.
Lunch (12:00 p.m.—12:30 p.m.)
A student who attends the Cove Summer School Program for a full day (the 5 hours
of instruction) will have approximately 30 minutes for lunch. If students fi nish early,
they will be off ered some supervised physical activity. The students will engage
in sensory based games that will promote social skills, motor planning skills and
physical endurance. If the weather cooperates, it’s a great time to get fresh air. All
activities will be appropriate for the child’s age and ability.
Students can bring their own lunch or a hot lunch will be available on a daily basis.
Forms can be found on the link called “Marla’s Lunches” on the Cove website in
the Virtual Backpack.
TransportationTransportation is not included in the tuition. Private pay parents are responsible
for their child’s transportation.
