ROSARY WEBSITE: therosary3.com takes you to a quiet place within; away from the noise and din of life, and

all its distractions ... into the presence of God.

The journey continues...Lent is barely underway. How are you doing? It is okay to start over...He counts effort more than achievement. Our sinful habits have been formed by our lifetime, they may not be changed by a few days of effort. Keep at it. Encourage one another. In our gospel for today, Jesus is transfigured on the mountain before Peter, James and John. They see His glory as the divine Son of God. It must have been a glorious mo-ment...fearfully they fall down...Jesus speaks, "Rise, and do not be afraid." Comfort for their fear is His gift to them. The voice that came from the heavens confirmed for them the divinity of Jesus. "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him." Now, you need to realize that He is going to tell them three times that He is going to be rejected, suffer greatly, die and rise. "Listen to Him." He is preparing them for what is to come. St Paul told us, "Beloved: Bear your share of hard-ship for the gospel with the strength that comes from God." The gospel may bring us hardship as we struggle to follow Him and the commands of God. Lent puts it right before us, calls us to change our ways, to follow more faithfully. It can be difficult. "Listen to Him." He is en-couraging us in our struggles to be better disciples, with the strength that comes from God. "Rise, and do not be afraid." Listen to Him...get up...do Lent! He will be well pleased with us. The journey continues... You may wonder why sometimes this letter and my homily are the same, sometimes different. This letter is usually written Monday morning, at the latest Tuesday. Some-times, that Holy Spirit intervenes during the week...the homily moves in a different direction. So, just consider it as two takes on the same material! Two for the price of one!! I am sorry I had to cancel our Lenten mini retreat. Mon-day, March 20, is the feast of St Joseph this year. I would like to reschedule our mini retreat to one session on March 20, Monday, at 6:30-8:00 pm. We have a surprise gift for you that eve too. St Joseph, pray for us. Fr. Jim

Prayer For Lent Dear Jesus, you spent 40 days in the desert before you began your ministry to the world. You resisted the temptations offered by the devil, saying no to worldly pleasures and power. Like the prophets before you, 40 days in the desert was preparation for the great mission of your life. As Lent begins, help us to make our lives pure and holy. Give us the grace to willingly make our own self-denials into personal deserts, which will prepare us for your work. Purify our souls in the crucible of this Lenten season, and make our hearts acceptable to you and your Father.

Amen.
