About the award

About the ASA
• The ASA is the National Governing Body for Swimming and its associated disciplines for England.

• Combination of paid employees and volunteers• National, regional and county structure• 185,500 affiliated members, 1,224 clubs• Various departments, which include:

A “Typical” ASA Club
• Mainly volunteers, although some do have paid Teachers and/or Coaches (full & part-time)
• Affiliated to their county, region & national ASA• Constitution and committee – to run club affairs• Various roles within club, which include:
– Chairman– Teacher/Coach– Treasurer– Secretary– Officials– Welfare Officer– Volunteer Co-ordinator– Marketing Officer

• Operate at different levels• Financed through membership fees, grants/subsidies• Enter competitions at varying levels• Recruit members via marketing, word-of-mouth,
