Welcome to the 2017
68th Annual
Fall Ceremonial Session
September 13-16, 2017
Springfield, Illinois
2017 GLSA President
Illustrious Sir
Mike Donaker, P.P.
Ansar Shriners
2
Nobles and Ladies, thank you for attending this 68th An-
nual GLSA Fall Session. Many of you chose to come in early to
visit the various Abraham Lincoln Historical Sites. That is what I
and the many Nobles and Lady’s from Ansar had hoped for.
There will be staff from the Tourism Office in the lobby to pro-
vide directions.
This year GLSA has added a wreath laying ceremony at
Abraham Lincoln’s Tomb. Laying wreaths will be the Most
Worshipful Grand Master of Illinois, Anthony R Cracco; Imperial
Sirs Jim L. Cain and William S Bailey and myself. Everyone is
encouraged to ride the buses to Oak Ridge Cemetery for this
Thursday afternoon event. If you want to tour the Tomb itself,
guides will be available during this time frame.
Again this year we are doing a Pub Crawl on Thursday
evening. Nobles and Ladies attending the Station Dinners can
participate after dinner. Both the above events are FREE – but
the drinks at the Pubs are on you!
The Motor Corps competitions will be held at Bunn Capi-
tol (yes, Bunn-O-Matic coffee makers), Clown Competition at the
BOS Center next door, Horse Patrol will be at the Illinois State
Fairgrounds, Pipes and Drums competition at Trade Winds
(Knights Action Park). These competitions welcome all Nobles
and Ladies to come out and see your units in action. Directions to
the sites are on a sheet in your registration packet.
The 2017 GLSA Parade on Saturday will follow a 12
block route through downtown Springfield. Most of you know I
have asked this to be an all Masonic Parade. It will lead off with
the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Illinois followed by vari-
ous units of the Masonic family. The Shrine portion will follow,
being led by the grouped Bagpipers of every Temple in atten-
dance. Should be very impressive! Parade Route is on the direc-
tions sheet in your registration packet. Please come out and sup-
port your Units.

travel south on 7th Street (southbound only) back to the lots around Ansar (6th
