Dear Parish Family, In the Gospel this weekend, Jesus confronts the Pharisees about their com-plaint that the disciples don’t follow the prescribed cleansing rituals before eating. This comes from the idea that no one wanted to put anything dirty into their mouths. But Jesus is very clear with the Pharisees that filth and un-cleanliness doesn’t come from what one eats or doesn’t purify, but rather what dwells in our hearts. If we hold on to anger, bitterness, hatred, and jeal-ousy, then our hearts and souls will be dirty and our actions will reflect that. That is why the Lord is asking us to look inside ourselves to make sure we are clean. Other things can have an impact on our hearts, but the majority of what troubles us are the things that start in-side of us. Let us ask the Lord to help us take a look at our-selves so that we can be whole. We ask him to help us cleanse ourselves of ‘dirt’ on our soul so that we can live like the disci-ples he wants us to be. Fr. T.J. Dolce

St. Martha Men’s ACTS Retreat: Oct. 25-28, 2018 Registration for the M22 Men’s ACTS Retreat will be in the Narthex after each Mass next weekend Sept. 8 & 9. The ACTS retreat is present-ed by St. Martha’s parishioners. It is a three day/three night retreat that focuses on Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service. Registration

Monica's Hope: Prayerful Support for Parents of Troubled Children

Don't suffer in solitude. Within our Catholic community there are many with troubled chil-dren of all ages. Problems like addiction, crim-inality, mental illness, etc. Find support,

strength and encouragement in a confidential environment. And, in the example of St. Monica, you can pray for your child and find peace. Seven Sisters Apostolate Group Forming

Mission: To strengthen the Church by ensur ing that a holy hour is prayed each day of the week with the sole inten-tion of our parish priests. Prayers are offered for our priests' sanctity, their deepening devotion to Mary and conformity to Christ. Need: One woman for each day of the week to commit to one hour in prayer in the adoration chapel for a one year commitment. Once your day is confirmed, it is up to you to choose the time. ADULT CONFIRMATION In order to be eligible for the adult Confirmation program, you have to be at least 18, and received all of your other sacraments (Baptism, First Reconciliation, and First Com-munion). Our first class will be on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 PM. The class will go for about 8 weeks, and then the Confirmation ceremony will be held in January. All of the adult confirmation classes will be on Thursday evenings in the Borski Room located in St. Martha Catholic School. Stewardship Prayer for September: The month of September has traditionally been set aside to honor Mary as Our Lady of Sorrows, whose feast is September 15. All the sorrows of Our Blessed Mother are joined together with the passion and death of her son, Jesus Christ. And so we pray: Oh my Jesus, In your passion came true the prophecy of Simeon, that your mother would be pierced by a sword of immeasurable anguish and sorrow. Grant that as we who commemorate the memory of her grief, imitate her stewardship example and participate in a profound way in your redemptive work. Help us to embrace the journey of your passion, so that like Our Blessed Mother, your first and greatest disciple, we too may be brought from death to life by your cross and resurrection. We pray this to you, Christ, our Lord, Amen

Ministerio Hispano Querida Familia Parroquial, En el Evangelio de este fin de semana, Jesús confronta a los fariseos acerca de su queja de que los discípulos no siguen los rituales de limpieza prescritos antes de comer. Esto viene de la idea de que nadie quería poner nada sucio en sus bocas. Pero Jesús es muy claro con los faris-eos, de que la inmundicia y la suciedad no provienen de lo que uno come o no purifica, sino más bien lo que mora en nuestros corazones. Si nos atenemos a la ira, amargura, el odio y los celos, entonces nuestros cora-zones y nuestras almas estarán sucias y nuestras acciones reflejarán eso. Es por eso que el Señor nos está pidiendo que miremos dentro de nosotros mismos para asegurarnos de que estamos limpios. Otras cosas pueden tener un im-pacto en nuestros corazones, pero la mayoría de lo que nos preocupa son las cosas que comienzan dentro de no-sotros. Pidamos al Señor que nos ayude a mirarnos a no-sotros mismos para que podamos estar com-pletos. Pidámosle que nos ayude a limpiarnos de 'suciedad' en nuestra alma para que po-damos vivir como los discípulos que él quiere que seamos. Fr. T.J. Dolce

Los Sacramentos son ayudas, medios y herramientas de la gracia que Jesús nos dejó para ayudarnos a llegar al cielo. Teniendo una íntima relación con Él en nuestra vida diaria. Si no estás bautizado o solo te bautizaron, ven con nosotros a recibir o completar tus Sacramentos de Iniciación Cristia-na que son: El Bautismo, La Confirmación y La Eucaristía. Si este es tu caso (y eres mayor de 18 años) o conoces a al-guien que los necesita, anímalo a participar en el proceso del RICA. En este proceso respondemos a todas las preguntas o dudas de fe que tengas y es para católicos y no católicos. Ven y participa con nosotros comenzaremos a finales de Ju-lio. Legión de Maria—Somos una organización apostólica de laicos en la iglesia Católica, aprobada por los últimos tres Papas y endorsada por el Concilio Vaticano II. Realizamos reuniones semanales en donde se reza el San-to Rosario, se asignan trabajos legionarios y se estudian temas informativos para hacer más eficaz el apostolado. Nuestros trabajos consisten en evangelizar y santificar

hombres mediante visitas a: familias, cárceles, toques de puertas, llevando a la Virgen peregrina a los hogares, entre otras activida-des recomendadas por la parroquia.
