Welcome to our newsletter for Central & City Academy We are so grateful for all the hard work from teachers, my child is enjoying staying in touch with her education. Parent Dear Parent/Carer We have had another couple of busy weeks at school that has seen the return of Year 10 students to school for pastoral/learning meetings. It has been great to see so many of our students whom we ve really missed! We continue to follow social distancing measures and government guidance to ensure our community remains as safe as possible whilst learning continues in a variety of ways. We continue to be incredibly proud of the staff delivering a full, interactive online learning programme. We are one of the only Trusts across the country to have had this in place since the start of lockdown and continue to develop and improve the programme. Where requested, we have also been providing home learning packs. We are determined that no student will fall behind during these unprecedented times. Please do get in touch if you need any support. Dear Parent/Carer We have had another couple of busy weeks at school that has seen the return of Year 10 students to school for pastoral/learning meetings. It has been great to see so many of our students whom we’ve really missed! We realise that for some of our students learning

online has taken them out of their comfort zone,

and we know they would prefer to be in their

classrooms participating in lessons. However, we

believe it is our role through this pandemic to

continue to deliver a CORE education and to

remain role models for all our students. We will do

our best to ensure that all students come back to

us safe and equipped to continue their learning in

school. To support the education of our stu-

dents we will continue to perform live teaching

online. Timetables for all year groups can be

found on the school website and on the school

twitter account.

9:30 am—10:00 am: Form time

10:00 am—11:00 am: Lesson 1

11:00 am—11:30 am: Break

11:30 am—12:30 pm: Lesson 2

12:30 pm—1: 30 pm: Lesson 3

Students can spend the afternoon by

engaging with CORE Extra.

Recently we have been able to evaluate and

reflect on our CORE Extra programme and have,

as a result, developed the offer so that more

students can engage in extracurricular activities.

To celebrate and raise awareness of positive role models, staff are using the footer of their emails to

identify people they admire. These are just a selection:

“I admire Frederick Douglas for being an inspirational role model of hope and overcoming adversity. He was

an orator, writer and social reformer who escaped slavery to become a national leader of the Abolitionist

Movement “Without a struggle, there can be no progress.” - Mr Michael

“I admire Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist, social reformer, and racial justice advocate. Her ar-rest for refusing to give up her seat on a city bus triggered the 1965-1966 Montgomery bus boycott and be-

came a turning point of the civil rights movement. What she did for so many was incredible!“ - Ms Dass

“I admire Marsha P Johnson, a transgender gay rights activist who was heavily involved in the 1969 Stonewall Riots. She helped pave the way for gay rights despite the hardships of being both black and trans and only

recently is she getting the recognition she deserves.“ - Mr Hampton
