Keystone Consortium of Educational Associations

• The KCEA is a collaborative effort among education-related associations within the Commonwealth, as coordinated by PAC-TE.

• These education-related associations began their collaboration in October 2012 with the goal of working proactively with the Governor, Pennsylvania Department of Education, State Board of Education, and legislature to shape policies and legislation which will be beneficial for students and educators throughout the Commonwealth.

• KCEA has been meeting annually at this conference and is coordinated by our Past President Jay Hertzog. • KCEA first developed a “Talking Points” document which outlines basic policies and practices which must

be in place for the Commonwealth’s students to have the best opportunities and support for learning. • The three elements around which this group of educational professionals has found consensus are:

• The Narrowing of the Curriculum and Its Implication on the Whole Child;• The Importance of Ongoing, Meaningful Professional Development for all PreK-16 Educators• Well-designed Student and Professional Educator Assessment and Evaluation Systems

• KCEA associations have also endorsed the PAC-TE position on student teacher assessment and the recently developed PAC-TE Teacher Candidate Effectiveness Assessment.
