Apprenticeships are work-based learning
programmes which allow learners and
employees to gain a nationally recognised
qualification whilst developing new skills
in the work place.
Apprenticeships are available to learners
aged 16 and above and not in full-time
education. Existing employees may also
join an apprenticeship programme in
order to upskill in their current career.
Intermediate and Advanced level
apprenticeships are available.
Following government reforms,
apprenticeships are now designed by
employers to meet the needs of their
sectors. Apprenticeships are vital in
ensuring that young people and adults
continue to develop the knowledge and
skills required to build a dynamic
workforce.

within our country, and internationally.
There will also be a programme of trips, visits,
speakers and the opportunity to participate in
charitable and fun, fund-raising events.

modern world and all

will be a mandatory

Ryan Atkins Ryan began his journey with ATT FE aged 16 after leaving the 6th form. Ryan was initially unsure about his future career choice, however he enrolled on the Level 2 Certificate for Children and Young People’s Workforce following a visit to the college’s open evening. The course involved a great deal of work placement and Ryan decided that teaching was the way he wanted to go! Ryan then progressed onto the Level 3 Early Years Educator. This course was a 2 year long programme but would give him the UCAS points he would need to enter university. Ryan completed the course with excellent grades and was offered no less than 5 different university places. He eventually opted to The London South Bank University, studying BA (Hons) Education Studies. We received this message from him:
"Just thought I'd keep you updated. I got all my results for my modules on the first semester and I got two 1st and a 2:1. Today I also got myself a job in the nursery in the Commonwealth Office near Westminster. I would never have been able to do any of it if it wasn't for you and everyone else at Dukeries FE. I thought I would send you a message to say how much I appreciate everything".
Ryan Atkins
I really enjoy coming to the Dukeries and learning about
Construction. This is mainly down to the familiarity of the staff and
the job opportunities surrounding Construction.
Kalham Musgrove, Aged 17, Level 2 Diploma in Building

Laura Murdie
Laura joined the college at 16 directly from leaving school to complete the Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children. At the end of the course the college staff supported Laura in an application to a local school nursery in Edwinstowe to complete a Level 2 (Intermediate) Apprenticeship for the Children's Workforce. Laura was successful in her application and has thoroughly enjoyed working with the children and staff there. We are currently working with Laura to secure her a Level 3 Apprenticeship.
"I really enjoy earning as I'm learning! It was a great option for me to complete a Working With Children Apprenticeship. I was also able to continue coming to college with my group of friends."
Laura Murdie
