Welcome to our Church

For Internal Circulation Only 13 December 2015

Jeremiah 6:16a: This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the cross roads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Rooted in the Living Word Empowered by the Holy Spirit Abiding in Christ only Daring to Hope and to Love Yielding Fruit To God’s Glory

Introduction

Why was it necessary for Jesus to be fully man? We turn to Heb 2 for three answers.

Our Sacrifice: He died for our sins (v 14-17)

1. “making atonement for the sins of his people” (v 17).

2. Jesus had to assume full humanity so that we can be saved.

Our Model: Jesus is our Example (v 18a)

1. “He himself suffered when he was tempted”.

2. He is our perfect example.

Our Companion: Jesus is our Divine/Human Companion (v 18b)

1. “He is able to help those who are tempted”.

2. Jesus sums up a new history for humankind.

Discussion Questions

1. What is the danger of denying or downplaying the humanity of Jesus? How are Christians guilty of doing this? What do we lose when do that?

2. Share how you have personally experienced Jesus as Sacrifice, Model and Companion. How do Christians lack in their experi-ence of each of these truths about Jesus? Why is the humanity of Jesus important for us to appreciate them?

3. A. W. Tozer said in a sermon that Jesus took up human nature “into the Godhead.” There, in God’s presence, human nature is “received, embraced, welcomed and enthroned at the right hand of the Father.” Discuss what you think Tozer meant. How does Jesus change our stories? Why does it give us hope?

JSS celebrates "WHAT IS CHRISTMAS?”

20th Dec 2015 10am – 12pm Venue - JSS Hall Level 2

With a theme verse of Isaiah 9:6, kids will be encouraged to ponder over the true reason for the season and to invite new friends to this super Sunday of games, carols and fun!

Tis the season to be jolly?

Tis rather the best time to share the real reason for the season and the real Person behind the Celebration.

For three Sundays in December and on Christmas Day, we want to medi-tate on who Jesus is, as revealed 2000 years ago. Wise men seek Him, but may we truly know Him.
