How can we help them?

If we want to take a decision, all of us should be sure for the

decision on donating blood.

But, at first, we should consult with our parents for our decision.

After we take this decision, we go to the doctor who will

inform us for everything that we need to know.

The criteria for being a blood donor are:

1. A person must be in overall good health on the day of donation,

• be at least 17 years old,

• weigh 110 pounds,

• and have not donated in the previous 56 days.

2. If the person meets all this condition, then he/she is able to fill out a

questionnaire, which asks specific questions about a person’s lifestyle to determine

their level of risk.

 Persons who cannot donate blood.

A person who has any of following cannot donate blood:

A.Cold or flu symptoms,

B.Has been taking antibiotics within the previous two days,

C.Has an increased risk of HIV.

The procedure of blood donation

If the potential donor meets all the criteria ,a few people tests are performed and then

donation can begin:

1.Temperature and blood pressure are taken both,

2.A drop of blood is taken for test,

3.When the these tests are complete, the donor is given a donation bag which will hold

1 pint of blood.

4.The donation process usually takes 10 minutes .

 How donors feel after donating?

After donating some people may feel a little light headed or faint.

a.There are rarely any serious side effects from donating blood.

 b.Most problems can be avoided by resting after donating.

c.Drinking some juices to help replenish the body.

Donating blood poses no serious health threats to the donor.

By donating blood, many people are able to benefit in return

People who receive and benefit from donated blood are:

Cancer patients,

Gunshot victims,

Car accident victims,

Burn victims,

Patient with chronic anemia.
