1. COLLEGE PROFILE :
Maharaja Purna Chandra (Autonomous) College, Baripada is one of the Premier institutions of Higher Education in Orissa. Christened after the Late Maharaja Purna Chandra Bhanja Deo, the enlightened ruler of the erstwhile Princely state of Mayurbhanj, the College has been successfully catering to the need of higher education of the people, not only of Orissa but also of its adjoining states since its inception in July 1948. Over the years the institution has grown from strength to strength and from glory to glory by adding fresh feathers to its cap of success. With the conferment of Autonomous status upon the College by the UGC and Govt. of Orissa in 2000-2001 and accreditation by NAAC with ‘B++’ grade, the College has added two more shining feathers to its cap of success. The College aims at providing quality higher education, building the character and conduct of the students and moulding the all-round development of their personality through various extension services and healthy practices.
COURSES OFFERED:
i) The College provides 3-Years U.G. Courses in BBA & BCA (Self-Financing) & College also provides 4-Years Integrated B.Ed. course in B.A.& B.Sc. streams see para-(8 C-I)
ii) The College provides regular P.G. teaching facilities in ten subjects. They are Commerce, English, History, Odia, Philosophy and Political Science, Geography, Sanskrit, Hindi & Santali. For details See paragraph –(8 C-II)
iii) The C o l l e g e provides S e l f -Financing 2 -year P . G . Courses in A p p l i e d Physics, Bio- Chemistry, Environmental Economics, Industrial Chemistry & Micro-biology. For details see para-(8 C-III). MBA & MCA courses are also running in the college on PPP mode. The admission is through OJEE Merit list.
2. FACULTY PROFILE:
The College has a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members to impart quality education to the students. It also hires the services of guest faculties from renowned institutions to quench the intellectual thirst of the students.
3. HOSTELS: The College has three men hostels and two women hostels ( One exclusively for
Tribal women) to accommodate 180 nos. of men and 172 nos. of women students of both U.G. & P.G. Classes. Another ST Boys hostel is most likely to function from this academic session i.e-2017-18
4. OTHER ACTIVITIES:
The College provides the students with ample scope to develop their personality and service to humanity through the NCC, NSS, YOUTH RED CROSS and ROVERS & RANGERS activities.
5. DRESS CODE:
The College has introduced the dress code for the students: Black trousers (Full pants) and steel grey full sleeve shirt for men and white salwar and dupatta, steel grey kameej for women. Students after admission are required to come to the college in the uniform, while attending Classes, examinations and for other college activities.
6. EXAMINATION:
There shall be two semester examinations in an academic session. The P.G. course is divided into four semesters and the U.G. Courses is divided into 6 semesters.

7. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
7.1 3-Years U.G. Courses BBA & BCA (Self-Financing) : +2 Pass out in any stream 4- Years Integrated B..Ed. (Self-Financing): B.A. B.Ed: +2 Arts/Science passout / equivalent examinations securing minimum of 50% marks in aggregate without extra optional B.Sc B.Ed.: +2 Science Pass out Students securing minimum of 50% marks in aggregate without extra optional NOTE: For Integrated B.Ed Admission Separate Application Form and Prospectus is available in the college website.

Students seeking admission to 1st Semester of P.G. Courses must be a graduate from a recognized
university / institution with minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate and 40% marks in the subject concerned.
7.3 P.G. COURSES (SELF FINANCING): (2 Years Course) Applied Physics- Any Science Graduate with Physics as a subject.
Bio- Chemistry- Any Science Graduate with Botany/ Zoology/ chemistry Honours But Chemistry Graduate should have Bio-logy at +2 Level. Environmental Economics - Any graduate with Economics as a subject.
Industrial Chemistry - Any Science graduate with Chemistry as a subject.
Micro-Biology - Any Science graduate with Chemistry and Botany / Zoology.
8. GENERAL RULES FOR ADMISSION:
8-A Admission to the college is provisional and cannot be claimed as a matter of right and may be refused without assigning any reason thereof. Final decision in matters of admission rests with the principal.
8-A (i) Admission to the PG & U.G. Classes shall be done strictly on merit basis based
on the percentage of marks secured in the qualifying examination both for general and reserved categories of applicants. ( For details see Annexure-11.)
