What Is Sustainability? Sustainability involves making decisions and

taking action that are in the interests of protecting the natural world, with particular emphasis on preserving the capability of the environment.

Sustainability is something that last a long time. sustainability is how biological systems remain diverse and productive.

In more general terms, sustainability is the endurance of systems and processes

why sustainability is an important concept?

It’s important because then you are able to maintain the area around and in Wentworth Point. The ability of an ecosystem to function and maintain productivity for a prolonged period is also sustainability. A sustainable design can save the designer and the costumer a lot of money. Sustainability has to with ecology, recycling, water, and more.

How did the designers of this home incorporate sustainable design principles into their concept/plan?

Getting the sun in the room in winter and no sun during summer.

Using hard tiles because if there is dust you can see it and you can vacuum it up.

Thermal analysis , window positioning. The water and solar heating use the earth’s

natural cycle ( low heat and water bills)Solar hot water system provides up to 80% of hot water a year.

Why I chose this designFor my building which is the Discovery Centre in Wentworth Point. I have discussed with my group that we would all have a white door as is symbolizes sophistication, a water tank and a solar panel. We also share the same wood on the out side of the house. My building is a environmentally friendly and it can also access healthier resources. My building also has a lost of natural lighting and air ventilation, instead on having to turn on the lights and instead of having to put the air conditioning on you have natural air flowing through ,this decreases the use electricity. The discovery centre has a lot of information on how we can keep our town clean and eco friendly. It also has a lot of trees and greenery to calm the mind. The discovery centre has a lot about the history and how much it has changed over the years.

I have chosen this for my design for my building has it has plenty of outside area for the community, and to enjoy has many resources as possible. For example a lot of people live in apartments so there's not much air ventilation so we give them help by saying to open there windows and have natural sunlight in there homes so they don’t use has much electricity has they normally would. I have also made this building so that it is sustainable and that in the future it would benefit the community.
