Visit me during my office hours (posted on the homepage of this site). You are welcome to
phone or email me during my office hours, but if I am meeting with a student I will return your

office hours - just ask!

WebAssign for MAT100 Students: Tips and Features
MAT100 General Information and Frequently Asked Questions
WebAssign is an online tool, which we will use to supplement our classroom
experience. WebAssign comes loaded with some fantastic learning aids, but they
must be used in the proper fashion. Keep in mind that these aids will not be there
to assist you while taking a pencil-and-paper exam, so you must be sure that you
truly understand the material.
I post each assignment the day before we cover the material in class and set the
due date as midnight of the third night after the material is covered. (i.e. if we
finish section 1.3 on a Monday, the last day to earn credit will be Wednesday at
midnight.)
• In any web browser, go to www.WebAssign.com
• On right-hand side of screen, click on the link labeled “I Have a Class Key”,
you will be sent to a new screen.
• Enter the “Class Key” of clinton 1800 4950 then click on the “Submit” button.
The course information for our class should appear:
Course: MAT100
Instructor: Angela Barnaby
Clinton Community College, NY
• Click the “Yes, this is my class” button.

WebAssign Tips
Don’t procrastinate! My Math Lab helps students to diagnose their areas of
difficulty but this process takes time. You should begin your WebAssign
homework the day we begin working on it in class; an extension is built into each
assignment. You get a number of attempts at each question. Note that after three
attempts at a problem, you will need to “practice another version”.
I create a homework assignment for each section I cover. You should print out
your assignment.
While working on your WebAssign homework you should have your binder
available in which to solve the problems. Place your printed assignment in this
binder.
This notebook will be one of your first resources when you start to prepare for
your exams – you can look over your errors and comments, and this will help you
to avoid making similar errors on your exam. Reflecting on your work is one of
the best ways to truly understand mathematics, or any subject for that matter.
Plan ahead for internet issues. They always happen at the worst time, so be
prepared. Have a plan B.
MAT100 General Information and Frequently Asked Questions
WebAssign Tips:
• Assignments are due at midnight on the due date, unless otherwise stated. Late
assignments will not receive credit.
• CCC does have computer labs available for student use during the week, 7:45am-
4pm in the Tutoring Center on the 4th floor. There are also several other places on
campus where you can use a computer to complete your homework, such as the
library or in an open computer lab.
• You may attempt most questions 6 times, by the deadline, to improve your score.
Some questions allow fewer than 6 attempts due to the number of choices
available.
• You can stop and save your work so that you do not have to complete the
assignment all at one time.
• In the event you feel that you have the right answer, but you keep getting marked
incorrect, write the question down on a piece of paper and hand it in at the
beginning of class the day it was due. On the paper, include your name, the
section, the question number, and your work. If your answer is correct, I will credit
your assignment. I do this so that you do not stress over any one question too long.
