Bridges In Mathematics

• Philosophy Behind BridgesManipulative-based program developed by primary teachers that emphasizes all area of mathematics utilizing the following strategies:

• Visual thinking-Students use a variety of manipulatives to actually see and solve problems.

• Sketches and drawings-Students learn how to problem solve answers by making their own pictures.

• Various Algorithms- more than one way to solve a problem.

*Bridges is a spiraled program. This means nearly every concept that is taught returns a second, third and even fourth time throughout the school year so every child has a built in review for concrete learning to show progress.*School-wide program
