The purpose of the Grade 9 Plan is to use a comprehensive approach to the academic and student service needs of Liberty students and to meet the greater demands for competitive graduates.
Attention has been given to Grade 9 as a strategy to assist all students in study skills, personal goal setting, improved writing skills, increasing motivation and success when starting high school, and making improvement in the graduation rate.

STUDENT SERVICE REORGANIZATION AND IMPROVED
ORIENTATION PROCESS
• Smaller 9th Grade case loads for counselors. • Each family will have the same counselor and
assistant principal for all children in the family• Students who are retained stay with their counselor
regardless of their grade. • More consistent access and delivery of student
support services (college and career counseling, emotional health and D&A counseling, medical/wellness services, etc.) over a student’s four-year career.
• Guidance counselors will remain connected to community and college resources annually
• Increased social & community resource coordination through social work personnel at each high school.
• More personalized guidance services toward life planning
COMMUNITY SERVICE
• All students must complete a minimum of 60 hours of Community Service
in order to graduate.• Students who complete 135 hours or more will be honored at graduation with the presentation of the Silver cord.• May earn up to 30 hours between 8th grade and Freshman year

ATHLETICS
Facilities: an auxiliary gym, a state of the art natatorium, four weight training rooms, our Memorial Gym (seats 3150 people), four tennis courts, a baseball field, a softball field, practice fields, and the Frank Banko Stadium.
LHS Teams: baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, football, golf, rifle, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling field, volleyball and wrestling.
