INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATEPRIMARY YEARS PROGRAMMEWe have undergone our authorization review for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) at the elementary level and are applying for authorization this year. The IB Programmefocuses on the development of the whole person as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. It provides a framework of learning that encourages students to become creative, critical, and reflective thinkers while fostering the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding, and global engagement that are essential for life in the 21st century.

Students learn big concepts through 6 transdisciplinary themes. Each grade level has distinct central ideas and lines of inquiry for which they will investigate.

Guidance• Our guidance counselor is a vital member of the school’s educational team and a

member of the School Based Team. • Our guidance counselor provides counseling in the areas of academic achievement,

personal, and social/emotional development.• Social skills groups and individual counseling based in individual student needs. • Facilitates students in gaining the skills and knowledge necessary to be competent

and successful learners.

ELL (English Language Learners)• Teachers are ESOL endorsed and utilize a variety of strategies for teaching ELL

students.• Students have individualized plans and receive accommodations for classwork and

assessments.• Students are closely monitored and assessed annually to measure growth

towards proficiency in English.

Elementary ESE Services • Gifted Program – self contained gifted classrooms with gifted endorsed teachers (grades 1-
