SUMMER 2018 CAMPS

Welcome to Kids in College Summer Camps at Anne Arundel Community College! Please take time to look through our extensive camp offerings for children of all ages using our new brochure layout. We hope we’ve made it easier for you to find the perfect camps for your children.

New features include: • Summer Camps At A Glance (pages 1-7) organized by week then by grade level. • At A Glance includes course name and number, cost, time, and page number for course description. • Before- and After-Care and Lunch Bunch are listed by week for ease of registration. See page 19 for program description. • Explore camps are highlighted in green for gifted and talented students.

Grade levels are determined by your child’s completed grade in the 2017-2018 school year. It is crucial that campers be placed in the appropriate grade level to ensure similar age and maturity. If you are registering in February, you will use the grade your child is currently enrolled in. If you are registering after school is finished, you will use the grade level your child just completed.

To find information about each course, including course description, instructor and location, reference the course descriptions on pages 9-18.

In order for us to provide the very best summer camp experience while maintaining a safe, fun and educational environment for each child, we’ve included a section on Important Things to Know (see pages 21-25). There you will find information regarding medication, accommodations, behavioral expectations and camp specific policies and procedures.

Complete the registration form on the back page of the brochure and return by fax, mail or in person. Visit www.aacc.edu/kic for required health forms. The registration and required health forms can be completed using the AACC portal at https://portal.aacc.edu.

Swoop in for our Kids in College open house and meet the teachers and staff from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in CADE 219 on the Arnold campus!

If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call. We look forward to seeing you and your children this summer!

WELCOME TO KIDS IN COLLEGE!Our goal is to provide a positive educational experience for all campers in a safe and fun environment.

Our camp is self-certified and adheres to the camp regulations set out by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

EXPLORE/MIDDLE SCHOOL SCHOLARSEXPLORE and Middle School Scholars are enrichment programs sponsored by the Advanced Studies Program Office of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools and Anne Arundel Community College. These camps nurture students’ potential by stimulating thinking, improving reasoning, enhancing creativity and encouraging group interaction.

SELECTING YOUR CHILD’S CAMPSGrade levels are based on your child’s enrollment in the 2017-2018 school year. Camps are designed to meet the educational and socialization needs of the campers. Parents are responsible for placing their child in a grade-appropriate camp. If a child is registered in a camp that is not grade appropriate, the Kids in College office reserves the right to withdraw a camper from that camp and place them in a grade-appropriate camp. The Kids in College and EXPLORE camps at a glance (pages 1-7) are listed by weeks followed by grade levels. Camp descriptions (pages 9-19) are organized in alphabetical order.

TEAMWORK ₪A number of camps require campers to work in pairs or teams. Each child enrolled in camps noted with the phrase “campers will work in teams” must be comfortable and able to work closely with other campers or in a small group.

HOW TO REGISTERSee page 26 for ways to register including online, fax, mail and in person.
