Counselor Seminar
00000 Counselor Seminar Credits: 1.0 Open to: Grades 11 Each year juniors are scheduled in groups for
developmental seminars with their guidance counselor. In addition to fostering effective relationships between students and counselors, these seminars provide interactive dialogue and information on the college application process, post-secondary planning, financial aid and college readiness.

Put “self-reflection” into “plan of action for your future”
THIS SEMINAR IS FOR YOU!! You take from it, what you put into it. Make the effort to achieve success.
JUNIOR “Seminars”?
Counselor Seminars are small or full class groups that meet regularly with (in most cases) a student’s guidance counselor
1 Credit “Pass/Fail” Counselor Seminar will be reported on official
transcripts and School Profile reported to colleges/post secondary endeavors
Groups will meet during a student’s advisory block
We are planning on 12 “lessons” designed to give students the needed foundation for post-secondary planning (from the beginning)

Expectations: Passing vs. Failing Attendance to each seminar
Participation Attendance (10/12 sessions = minimum 83%; unless otherwise excused) Final assessment (open notes) TAKE NOTES ALONG THE WAY!
Complete a Pre-Seminar Survey and a Final Assessment
Participation – class assignments and some “at-home” recaps
Registration and attendance to the April/May NACAC College Fair
Soul-searching Putting your thoughts, insight and interests into action Ask questions
