MULCH FILM

• Mulching is the process of protecting the plants from Weeds ,Water evaporation,Soil-borne diseases and Leaching of fertilisers.

Benefits of Mulching film: -

1) Earlier Harvest.

2) Reduces water evaporation up to 70%.

3) Fewer weed problems-Mulching reduces light penetration to the soil. It Prevents growth of weeds.

5) Better pest control -Due to reflective properties of mulch film, there is better protection to crops against pests.

TYPES OF MULCH FILM

1) White/Black -• For humid weather conditions.• For better growth of crops which do not need more reflection.2) Silver/Black• For high temperature weather conditions.• For better growth of crops which need more reflection.3) Yellow/Black• To control the insects by attracting them.• Used in 4:1 ratio.4) Red/Black• Recommended for Tomato, Apple, Colour capsicum(red)

i.e. for red fruits and vegetables.5) Black/Black• For extreme cold temperature weather conditions.

How to use mulch film?1. Prepare the raised bed and deep furrows

at both sides after tillage.

2. Spread the mulching Sheet on the bed either manually or by machine. Sheet should be buried in the soil at starting &end.

3. Make holes as per the crop spacing.

4. Transplant the seedling on the bed. Water should be applied on the bed before the transplanting the seedlings.

Plastic Tunnel are the miniature structures producing effect like greenhouse. These tunnel facilitate the entrapment of carbon dioxide,

there by enhancing the photosynthesis activities of the plant that help to increase.

These structures also protect the plants from high wind , rain , frost and snow. Besides being inexpensive, these structures are easy to construct and dismantle.

• Silage film is an agricultural film used in farm for protection and storage of silage, hay, in areas where the grass is not grown throughout the year.
