What I Plan to Emphasize
•That they love coming to school•That they “get lost” when reading books•That they view themselves as writers•That they see themselves as artists•That they realize some problems take time to solve, and are worth pursuing
•That they develop collaboration skills•That they see each other as unique individuals who bring different perspectives
•That they can work with just about anybody in a positive and productive manner
•That they feel challenged but not stressed out•That they realize if they don’t know or understand something, they just don’t know or understand it YET
• It’s okay to go out on a limb—that’s where the fruit is•They continue to grow into who they are meant to be
My Hopes For Your Children This Year
Ways to help your child succeed
• Talk to your kids about school
• Establish regular homework time
• Check your child’s agenda nightly or as needed
• Read and discuss the weekly reading selection.
• Practice problems in math textbook or workbook.
• Quiz each other on Science and Social Studies concepts.
• Have backpack packed and any other supplies by the door before going to bed
• Ask your child about his or her day - “Tell me about something you’re learning.”
• Encourage your child to do his or her best, ask questions, and contribute in class
