Nursery Session Procedures Start : AM Nursery 8:45 am, PM Nursery 12:30pm

Please bring your child into Nursery, nursery staff will be at the door to welcome you. You can help your child to hang up their coat and bag (if needed) and collect their name tag from their peg. Your child will then hang their tag on the registration board and go into our registration room (music and natural play area.)

End: AM Nursery 11:45 am, PM Nursery 3:30pm

Parents are asked to queue at the Nursery door, when you enter the Nursery reception area we will send your child out to you. This means we can pass on any messages to you and let you know about your child’s day.

This can take a while at first as we get to know you. You must inform us if someone different is picking up your child.

We understand that initially your child may be upset about leaving you. We are very good at cuddles! We ask that you give a reassuring kiss and a hug and hand your child over to Nursery staff, we will ring you to let you know they are settled.

Snack time: Milk/Water/Fruit/Vegetable In Nursery, we have a regular snack time, where your child will be offered Milk/Water and Fruit or Veg. (Sometimes we might have a biscuit as a treat!) If your child has any allergies, please make Nursery staff aware when completing the medical forms. You can also make Mrs Nichol aware via email: sara.nichol@ntlp.org.uk in addition to the medical forms you will need to complete. (Every child under the age of 5 qualifies for free school milk. You need to register your child for milk regardless of their age, so that enough milk is sent to school. The website address is www.coolmilk.com. )

Things to bring to Nursery: -Coat -Bag (if needed for a spare change of clothes. We have lots of spare clothes in Nursery- so please only provide a bag if your child is still gaining confidence with toileting.)

-Wellies (these can be left at Nursery)

-Sunhat/hat, scarf and gloves (Weather pending. If it is very sunny please apply suncream before the start of the Nursery session)

We kindly ask that you do not bring toys to Nursery and that you name items of clothing.

Uniform is not compulsory in Nursery. This gives you the flexibility to choose whether you would like your child to wear a uniform or their own clothes. There is a list of school uniform below. Uniform with the school logo can be purchased from www.totstoteams.co.uk -Navy school jumper or cardigan. -White polo t-shirt or shirt. -Grey trousers, skirt or dress. -Blue and white summer dress. -Black school shoes.

EYFS Curriculum In Nursery we teach the areas of learning through the use of topics. Children will carry out both child initiated and adult led tasks. We will collect observations of your child taking part in activities that link to these areas to records in their individual Learning Journey.

EYFS Curriculum - In the first half term we focus more on the Prime Areas of learning, to ensure all of the children are settled and happy in the environment. Our topic for the Autumn Term is: ADVENTURES. We will be finding out about the adventures your child has been on and experiences they would like to share. - We have small group/whole class carpet sessions to share stories, develop our fine/gross motor skills and teach phonics/mathematics.

drawers ready to be played with!

In Nursery we like to celebrate your amazing work, so we have lots of it on display.

We like to include your child’s own comments on their work.

General Information First Aid/Changing -You will receive a permission form to complete for the administering of first aid and for changing your child if they have an accident. Medicine- Designated staff will administer medication to children when it has been prescribed by a Doctor. Medication should have a prescription label with your child’s name and the dosage clearly visible. Any medication needs to be given to Nursery staff and a form must be filled out when you are handing it over. Asthma - If your child has asthma and uses an inhaler, please provide us with one to keep in school. A form must be filled in with dosage instructions and the inhaler will be kept in a designated box in your child’s classroom. It will be sent home every half term to be cleaned. Allergies- Please let us know about any allergies your child has before they start. Breakfast and After School Provision Breakfast Club Breakfast club is available from 7.30am. Children are offered a choice of toast, cereal and juice and are able to do a range of different activities including sports, puzzles and art. A 7.30am start costs £3 and a 8.00am start costs £2. ‘Little Angels’ 30 hr provision and after school club.
