Algebra
Building blocks and new foundation for everything coming next in Math.
Midterm and Final Students must maintain at least a B
(80%) average to remain in the course.

Binder with all of their math materials. 2 Spiral Notebooks – so students can
review their notes while they complete their homework.

7th Graders Should be Independent
I want to build a community of thinkers.
Students need to be problem solvers before we jump in and help them.
Encourage looking in their notes, looking in the book, or simplifying the problem before showing them how to complete a problem.
Homework
Most nights Should be completed independently (with
as little guidance as possible) Answers are posted on line for students to
check and correct mistakes. (For students without a computer, or limited internet access, printed answer keys are available in class.
They should come to class the next day with questions. If they don’t bring up questions, we won’t check it in class.
Website
Notes Worksheets HW Answers Study Guides for Tests If something isn’t posted or the
wrong file is downloading, email me. If there are mistakes on the answer
key, have the students tell me in class the next day.
Absences
Students should go online to get missed notes, worksheets, and homework.
Students can come in during 8th period to make up missed work, or they can make up the work at home.
Grades Tests – usually at the end of each
chapter. Use the layout of the book to anticipate when tests may be approaching.
Quizzes – throughout, may be unannounced
Tests and quizzes should be finished in the time given.
Notebooks – may be collected and graded according to a rubric.
Viewing Quizzes and Tests
Quizzes will be kept in the students’ notebook so they can study from them for the upcoming tests.
Tests will stay at school. If you want to see the tests, email
me, and I’ll send it home. Please send it back within a day or two.
Skyward
Students will receive graded materials before I post grades on Skyward. • Focus should be on what kinds of
mistakes were made so students can understand where they need to improve.
• Were they conceptual? Were they careless? Were they organizational? Were they procedural?
8th Period
Students should advocate for themselves.
Will be times that I ask to see certain students.
If a student needs extra help, they should ask to come see me.
Let’s have a great year!
I want your child to have a successful year.
Be in touch. Feedback and communication is
imperative so we can solve any problems or concerns that you may have.
