Welcome to Lane GREETINGS FROM PRESIDENT SPILDE Welcome to Lane Community College. We are committed to transforming lives through learning. Founded in 1964, our faculty, staff and community have built Lane into one of the best community colleges in the nation. You can be part of it, in a variety of ways.

• If you're just beginning your college career, or returning after a time away from school, you can complete the first two years of college, train for a profession, or explore career options.

• If you are in the middle of your career or in transition, you'll find classes to upgrade your skills or to train you for a new job or career.

• If you need to improve foundational academic, language and life skills, we offer GED programs, English as a Second Language, and other courses to prepare you for college, work or life.

• If you are a business owner or employer, you'll find programs to improve your business ownership skills or educate and train your employees. We also offer conference and catering services for large and small trainings and meetings in the Center for Meeting and Learning.

• If you are retired, we offer lifelong learning opportunities. • As a member of our community, Lane offers you many cultural and community services

through KLCC-FM, our arts programs and more.

Our instructors and staff place your learning at the heart of everything we do. You'll get to know our faculty well in our desirable small-class settings so essential to quality education and hands-on experience.

Faculty and staff achievements have earned Lane leadership status in the international League forInnovation, a 700-member consortium of community colleges. Lane is one of only 20 board members in the League, and is the only League college in Oregon. We're also one of only 12 Vanguard Colleges in the League, those who model best practices for other colleges.

Please visit our web site at www.lanecc.edu for more information, or stop by Enrollment Services in Building 1 on main campus, where you will find everything you need to get started at Lane.

Wherever you go at Lane you'll find a commitment to learning, respect for the unique needs and potential of each learner, and a culture of achievement in a caring community. We are constantly striving to improve diversity, innovation, collaboration and partnership, integrity, and accessibility.

Dear Titan Fan, On behalf of our Athletic Department, Coaching Staff, and all of the players, I would like to thank you for attending a home basketball game at Lane Community College. We hope that you have an entertaining and enriching experience. Our players and coaches are going to try and give every amount of effort possible so that you see the best brand of team basketball that we are capable of providing. This year’s team should be a fun one to watch. We have a fast, athletic backcourt, capable of knocking down the outside shot. We have a tall and talented frontcourt, capable of putting up big numbers, with regards to rebounding and points. On defense, we will be working hard to put pressure on our opposition’s offense, forcing turnovers and causing them confusion. On offense we will attempt to get the ball up the floor fast, looking to exploit a slower defense. If nothing comes early, we will execute offensive patterns that have been practiced for countless hours. It is our goal to win every battle for every loose ball and every rebound. Putting forth the best effort that we can in these areas should give us the best chance possible of coming out on top. We believe that basketball and athletics are more than just learning a sport. We believe that they provide a medium through which participants can become better people. We are constantly teaching our players to do what is right and not what they feel like doing at the time. We remind them daily to “perfect the perfectable,” worrying only about what they can control. No matter what the lesson, our overall mission is to focus on the “process (all of the smaller things that it is going to take to succeed) over the outcome.” We feel that this perspective provides us with the healthiest way to approach basketball and life. Thanks again and your support is most welcome,

UÜâvx V{tä~t Bruce Chavka Head Men’s Basketball Coach Lane Community College

FEC- Lane’s athletic facilities set the standard for excellence in the NWAACC. LCC’s most impressive jewel is the Fitness Education Center, or FEC, which provides state-of-the-art exercise equipment, circuit training, and an indoor carpet track. The FEC helps the college with recruiting, personal performance, and preparation in every sport. Every term over 1,000 students, athletes, staff members, and community members use the facility. The facility was built in 1993 and is over 8,000 square feet. The driving force behind the completion of the FEC was Lane’s ongoing commitment to its students and student-athletes. A professionally trained and dedicated staff is always available for personal guidance. TRAINER- An onsite athletic trainer is available during all athletic practices and sporting events. The treatment room features all the latest in injury prevention and treatment equipment and supplies. T.E.R.C.- Lane is also equipped with a Therapeutic Exercise and Rehabilitation Class. The professional staff in the T.E.R.C. Center assists with the assigning of rehabilitation programs for those student-athletes that have lingering injuries, or for those that suffer more severe injuries. TITAN COURT- The main gymnasium is known as “Titan Court”, and can hold up to 2,000 spectators. Titan Court was just refurbished in the summer of 2002, with a complete strip down of the old varnish and a fresh application of paint and finish. The gym features 14 baskets and a center curtain that can be closed to runmulti games simultaneously. With fully automated lighting, sound equipment, scoreboard, and bleacher system, Lane’s gym can accommodate almost any type of event. OTHER- Other athletic facilities at Lane include a weight room, four tennis courts, two soccer fields, a baseball, and a softball field (complete with indoor and outdoor batting cages and pitching machines), a full-size track, and over 15 miles of cross-country trails that traverse across campus.
