Dear MICC Family,
It is a great privilege for me to announce Peter Sung as the next Lead Pastor for MICC. The congregation voted to call Peter and Susie last Sunday (August 19), and they enthusiastically affirmed that call. Peter begins his ministry September 1. Pastor Jon and Peter will be working together in a time of transition during the month of September. Peter will be installed on Sunday, October 7. Please pray with me that the family's move from Chicago and their integration into this community will be smooth and positive.

production crew. Please contact Pastor Jim for more info.

ADULT & YOUTH CLASS KICKOFF SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 9 AT 9:30am IN FELLOWSHIP HALL
Summer is coming to an end and fall means it is time for adult classes to resume. This fall our classes will be open to adults and youth to provide an intergenerational learning experience. Come enjoy coffee & a bagel while you hear about the adult and youth classes at our kickoff on September 9. Classes will begin on September 16 at 9:30 am.
Discovery: The Discovery Class will conclude their study in Romans this fall. The format of the class is to read a section of scripture and then discuss its meaning. We ask questions such as "what did the author mean to convey to the original readers? How has this been interpreted over time? Do Christians teach that today? Why, or why not? The class is an open discussion format. All are welcome. All points of view will be heard. When the class has concluded the study in Romans they will begin studying the book of Hebrews. The class is taught by Dave McRae and hosted by Bob and Nancy Gronhovd in Hansen Hall.
CrossWalk: A New Church Adventure for the Ages. This class is led by Judy Jansen and Kent Lottis in Fellowship Hall.
How Now Shall We Live: What are you living for? Where is your heart set? How are you living? When in Rome, do you do as the Romans do? Or, just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do? (1 Peter1:15) We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that we may declare the praises of Him who called us out of dark-ness into His wonderful light (1 Peter 2:9). We know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that we were redeemed from the empty way of life that we see all around us, but with the precious blood of Christ, a Lamb without blemish or defect (1 Peter 1:18). So now is the time to wake up from our complacency and to live abundantly. The class will begin with the four-session DVD series "Politics and Faith" by Chuck Colson: 1. Is America a Christian
nation? 2. Should Christians be in politics? 3. What is America’s church and state problem? 4. Can
politics save America? From time to time, we continue our tradition of hearing the personal sto-ries of those within our congregation and in various ministries throughout the Christian commu-nity. This class is led by Dennis Chong in room 102.
After-Talk: Gathers upstairs in Hansen Hall after Sunday worship. It includes an open potluck lunch for any adults who would like to discuss the message in further detail and build cross-cultural relationships. We each share a highlight from the past week and then we review the morning's sermon & scriptures. The class is particularly beneficial for those who desire to be-come more comfortable speaking English because it is not their primary language. Some of the nationalities represented have included Australia, China, Holland, India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Sweden, Thailand... even America! Please come join us some time!
