Be the PARENT!
When we are raising teens we need to…
Adolescence is the time to step up and into parenting.

“Don’t you trust me ?!”
Degrees of trust are age dependent. Trusthim/her to make the best decisions a 14.. 15..16.. 17..18.. year old can make!
Love is a gift freely given. Trust is a two-waystreet built over time between people whorepeatedly endeavor to offer evidence of theirdependability.

We know that….– A. God invented sex!– B. Teens are not ready for the complications
and responsibilities of sex.– C. Ultimately, the decision about what their
sexual expressions will be and will mean lies in the hands of our teens.
It will help if we…..• Limit sleepovers and keep them to one gender! • Avoid creating in-laws.• Keep dates in family gathering areas not
bedrooms.• Supervise, Supervise, Supervise!

Leaving your teen home alone and
unsupervised is even more dangerous
than leaving your 10 year
old home alone!!!!

Party Planning for Parents!1. Call the parent-host of the party and offer to
bring brownies. Remember, no one has actually ever died of embarrassment!
2. Ask if the parents will be home and how many guests they are expecting.
3. Ask if they will be serving alcohol.4. Drop your teen off and then pick him or her
up. Some of the best conversations happen on these rides.
5. Establish a “safe zone” forchildren to call, admit they were drinking and get a ride homewithout recrimination. Natural consequences may follow the next day.
