VOLUNTEERS FOR TODAY

Join us tonight, December 24, for our Christmas Eve service at 5:00 p.m. in the Worship Center.

Sunday, December 31, we will have our regular Sunday morning Bible Study at 9:00 a.m. and morning worship at 10:15 a.m. On New Year’s Eve, there will be NO EVENING SERVICE.

God’s Word never changes, but everything else does change. The word “transition” means “a period of changing from one start or condition to another.” Calvary church is always facing some form of transition because we are a growing church, and that brings about change. A few months ago, John Pino was hired as our facility coordinator with the responsibility of overseeing our maintenance and janitorial work. He has added Kim Branham to his team. This area of ministry is experiencing transition and moving our church to a higher level in these areas. Our buildings are well-maintained, and the grounds look great. Susan Magouirk is our new children’s minister, and Casey McCarthy is our new music minister. Both ministry areas are in transition. This is a learning time for them and our church family as they lead our church in these ministries. With Josh Woolridge leaving his staff position, our church staff is experiencing transition with church responsibilities being changed. We are getting ready to transition to a new year. What can everyone in our church family do during a transition time? The first thing is to pray, then be willing to help when needed, and always be willing to change in order to help your church move forward.

PASTOR’S REPORT All Signs Point to Jesus

Hopefully, today or tomorrow you will be gathering with family and friends to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. These wonderful moments are a reminder to us that we belong to an even bigger and greater family - the Family of God! I praise the Lord

that we have such an amazing church family here at Calvary that supports us and prays for us. I cannot imagine doing life without the help and support of a local church family. Furthermore, I love the knowledge that there are millions of Believers around the world…and we are a part of this amazing family!! As we celebrate this Christmas season, Believers are also celebrating in China, Taiwan, Mexico, the Middle East, and so many other places. We can rejoice with our children that God’s light spreads across the globe! “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given…and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Is. 9:6).

BREAKING the CYCLE of HURTFUL Family Experiences

Teacher: Maja Steele, Licensed Professional Counselor

This 13-week class will provide healing for those “hurtful family” experiences many individuals have had in their lives, or possibly help to better understand a spouse or parent who has grown up in a dysfunctional family system. This class will cover stages of development, grieving and healing, emotional healing, forgiveness and bonding with God.

Many individuals grow up and “hide” these deep dark secrets and then go into adult relationships and find themselves “over reacting” or “drugging out” on meds, food, shopping, sex or other addictions. Getting to the root of the pain and finding healing can be extremely beneficial in our relationships to God and others.

The first step is to admit that you may have experienced these “hurts.” The second step is to reach out for help and healing. This class will be confidential for all involved and will be a closed class (meaning no signups after the class has started).

Maja M. Steele is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the State of Texas. She has provided counseling for many couples and individuals, and her goal is to provide the tools for improvement in relationships with God and others. Her experience includes working with acute psychiatric illness, marriage counseling, grief/depression and various addictions. Please sign up if you feel or think this class would benefit you or help you have greater understanding for someone you love.

THE CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED, SO PLEASE SIGN UP IN THE WELCOME CENTER. For more

information, please contact Frank Lane at (903) 657-8153 (church) or (903) 658-2509 (cell).

FAMILIES Built on the ROCK Biblical Principles for Your Unique Family

Every family is different and has its own characteristics and unique ways of doing things. Jesus gave some important insight to successful family life when He instructed us to build our lives on the “ROCK.” Lawrence Thompson will be

leading this family study designed to embrace the differences in families but stay grounded in the Word of God. Sign up in the Welcome Center now.

Study starts Wednesday, January 10, in Room 241.

Contact Frank Lane at (903) 657-8153 (church) or (903) 658-2509 (cell) or Lawrence Thompson at (903) 722-1200.

Thank you to everyone who helped clean up

our yard, helped us unload the moving

truck, and showered us with gifts and love

for our new home. We are blessed to be at

Calvary and feel so loved already. We look

forward to serving alongside you to reach

our community and the world for Christ!

In Christ,

Casey, Cathy, Ethan, Josiah, Micah, & Simon McCarthy

PARENTS, please note:
