‘Pre’ means before.

‘Position’ means staying.

Preposition is a word which sits before noun or pronoun and make a relation between noun/pronoun and other word of the sentence.

Some words which are used as preposition:

At, in, on, into, after, since, for, by, with, but, within, Between, among, out of, of, off, over, about, before, along, across, up, below, under, behind, against, through, down, in front of, from……

How many kinds of preposition ? What are they ?

1. Simple preposition- my father is at home.

2. Double preposition- he came to School without pen.3. Compound preposition- the sky is above us.4. Phrase preposition- he rose by dint of merit.5.Participle preposition- considering his age he was let off.6. Disguised preposition- he went a hunting.
