Relationship of Members with Industry
“It is my duty to remind you that the American College of Cardiology (ACC) maintains official policies on relationships of members with industry with respect to participation in all meetings of ACC Committees or Task Forces. I have a copy of your current statement from the College file. If your statement contained a Disclosure Form identifying an industry relationship as defined by ACC, and this Committee/Task Force takes under consideration today a matter where that relationship would apply, you should absent yourself and not participate in the discussion for its duration.”

Membership Value and Engagement
“This is why I pay my dues. What value has the College been for
me lately? My reimbursements are on a downward course and I can’t see
things getting any better.”
• Partner to pursue global CV related objectives
• Support members to improve the health of populations
• Encourage CV team-facilitated patient education
Population Health
“Population Health!... What the …?”
• Be the premier source for unbiased clinical CV data
• Be the hub for CV data collection, aggregation and reporting
• Generate science and improve clinical practice
Data, Information and Knowledge
“I understand the need to capture the data
and generate science, but is that really going to help me?”
“Is it going to create extra work for me and interfere with the care of my
patients?”
• Support the appropriate use of new, transformational technologies and therapies
• Move from a volume- to value-based system
• Define and support optimal CV team-based care
Transformation of Care
“Where do you come up with this stuff?”
• Provide a personalized, competency-based educational experience
• Use new delivery technology and evolving learning methods
• Improve clinical, administrative and leadership competencies

especially through some great meetings; snorkeling in Hawaii, skiing
in Aspen. I love education!”
• Help shape federal and state public policy
• Focus on state and payer issues
• Empower members to become effective advocates
Advocacy
“This is why I’ve been paying my dues.
Why don’t they do something about all these problems with healthcare?”

Our basis: The National Strategic Plan has set out focus areas and goals for the College for the next 5 years
Our strength: Chapters are where the plan’s ideas will take shape – our goals must align with the plan in order to…
Our mission: …reach our mission of transforming cardiovascular care and improving heart health (through the Triple Aim, as the professional home for the CV team)
Why Should Chapter Goals Align with the
Strategic Plan?

Group Discussion
1. How is this pertinent to our members?
2. How can we best communicate the plan?
3. What should be our priority in the first year of the plan?
