About the Teacher

• Thank you for your warm welcome to St. Hilary – I am honored to be teaching in this wonderful school!

• Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude from Holy Family University, certified in Elementary and Special Education

• Council Rock and Neshaminy School Districts• Archdiocese of Philadelphia - Religion & sacrament

preparation since 1995, St. Ignatius, Yardley PA. • I love my family, married 26 years, proud mother of

three sons.

3rd Grade Homework

• Math • English Language Arts• Reading (60 minutes per week – Reading Log)• Religion• Social Studies and Science – studying for tests• Archdiocesan Guideline is 60 minutes for 3rd grade.• No written homework will be assigned over a weekend• All assignments will be posted on our class web page. However, students

are required to copy their homework in a copybook. Please sign the homework book, “No Tears” policy, please write me a note if there is a problem w/the homework.

Report Cards & Assessments

• Report cards will be distributed 3 times a year, conferences are held in late November.

• All tests and projects will be sent home for parent signature and returned to school.

• Academic Progress• Marks are determined by tests, class work, homework, class

participation, independent and group projects and a variety of assessment practices.

• Non-numeric for 3rd Grade on a sliding scale from Outstanding to Unsatisfactory performance.

10/01 First Communion Retreat Day

10/10 Eucharistic Service Project with our 8th Grade Prayer Partners “Feed the Hungry” (Volunteers are needed)

Highlights of Third Grade…..

• Person on the week: every Friday a student will be nominated as the Person of the Week, they will be told a week in advance so they are ready.

• They should complete the poster provided and can bring in photos and keepsakes to share with the class (See bulletin board for example).

• Class Trip in the Spring to Lancaster, PA• Create a Gingerbread House to be entered in a competition

at Peddler’s Village in late November (Volunteer Sign-up Sheet)

Communication

• Transportation: Please send me a note if your child is not going home in his/her usual manner….Please do not send this via e-mail during the school day.

• E-mail will not be checked during the school day, I will get back to you as soon as possible within 24 hours.

• First Friday Liturgies: Parents and siblings are always welcome and encouraged to join us in prayer – send in your prayer requests!

• Social Outreach: Lots of ways for families to help others – Thank you for your generosity!

• Birthdays: Can send in a snack to share at lunchtime.• Blue Folder – goes home everyday, tests will be sent home

for signature & returned.• Scholastic Books & trip money – please do not send cash.• Peace Program – please read & sign the yellow form.• Please write back to your child on the back of their letter to

you. Thanks!• Check out our High-Flying Kites and Nate the Great puppets.• 100 Book Challenge, Student’s desk.• Class Library (work in progress)
