Online vS. On Campus Instruction
For 2020-21, parents may choose Online or On Campus instruction for their children. Both will be taught by DWE teachers.
ALL Humble ISD students will be Online the first 2 weeks of school. After the first 2 weeks, there are 2 options:
● ONLINE - These are students who plan to do Online long term
● ON CAMPUS - These are students who will come to school on campus/in person starting August 24
Your child’s current teacher is based on the choice you have made so far. If you change the option for your child, please know that you may have a teacher change.
Fill out the LEARNING LOCATION FORM at any time if you need to change your choice.
ONLINE INSTRUCTION(for students choosing to remain online after august 24)
● Online students will be required to be engaged DAILY in online learning (180 mins. per day).
● The 180 mins. per day will consist of Zoom meetings and daily assignments on Seesaw or Google Classroom. Small group instruction via Zoom will be scheduled throughout the week.
● DWE Learning Management Systems ○ PK - 2 Seesaw○ 3- 5 Google Classroom
● Assignments and assessments will be similar for both online and on campus learners. Grading policies are the same for both. Online assignments will have specific due dates.
● Online teachers will have daily “office hours” during which parents/students can contact them for assistance.
● Chromebooks for online learners who request them will be provided by DWE.
Attendance❏ ON CAMPUS ATTENDANCE TIME = 9:55 a.m.❏ Students who arrive after 7:50 will be counted tardy.❏ Students not present at 9:55 will be counted absent.❏ Students who are not present at 9:55, BUT come in
the same day with a note from a doctor or dental office, will be counted present.
❏ To EXCUSE an absence, parents must: Send an email to [email protected] Call the Absence Line at 281-641-2219
❏ ONLINE ATTENDANCE: Online Teachers will include this information during Orientation. DAILY log in and engagement are required.

Please keep your child home if he/she has recently begun experiencing any of the following symptoms in a way that is not normal to him/her.
● Fever 100℉ or greater or chills● Cough● Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing● Fatigue● Muscle or body aches● Headache● New loss of taste or smell● Sore throat● Congestion or runny nose● Nausea or vomiting● Diarrhea ● Abdominal pain
ON CAMPUS: CoVid-19 safety procedures
● Face coverings are required for everyone 10 years old or older. ● ALL students are welcomed/highly encouraged to wear masks.● Daily cleaning procedures for all classrooms (desks/tables) ● Use of misting machines daily after hours to further clean classrooms● Hand sanitizer will be available in all classrooms and around campus● Specials classes will be sanitized between classes● COVID-19 Safety Signage throughout campus● Students will be educated about the importance of frequent hand
washing; covering a cough or sneeze; not touching one’s face.● Water fountains will not be in use. Students will use personal water
bottles that can be filled at our 3 filtered water bottle filling stations.

ON CAMPUS: PHYSICAL DISTANCING
● As of 8/6/2020, DWE has 478 On Campus Learners and 142 Online Learners. With 77% of our students on campus, we will have the opportunity to physically distance our homeroom classes across campus, to minimize mixing of students. This will be achieved by:
■ Space between lunch tables■ Recess zones■ Grade level assigned restrooms■ Staggered classes in the hallways■ PE classes will not mix
● On Campus classes will have a typical class size of 18-22, depending on the grade level.
● Homeroom classes are like a small “families.” Students will be taught to keep distance as much as possible and to wash/sanitize hands often.
● Personal supplies (pencils, crayons, etc.) will not be shared. Classroom materials, books, and technology will be shared. However, items will be sanitized between usages.
Forgotten Items
During this time, we are limiting items dropped off at school to only those of critical importance, ie. glasses,
medications, lunches.
Please label all items prior to drop off.
Please help your child prepare for each school day in an effort to
keep our students and staff safe.
ON CAMPUS: VISITORS❏ Visitors are limited to essential business and scheduled
appointments only. ❏ Parent meetings: 504 Conferences, ARDs, and
teacher/parent conferences are preferred by phone or video conference. In-person conferences are possible by request.
❏ No Early Checkouts will be allowed after 2:30❏ Parents coming on campus will be asked a series of
CoVid screening questions prior to being admitted to the Front Office.
❏ Parents coming on campus are required to follow any mask orders in place.
❏ Parents may NOT park on campus during Arrival and walk students to the door. Students must be dropped off in either Front Door or Cafeteria Car Rider Line.

ON CAMPUS: 7:30-7:50Morning Arrival at DWEWhen students arrive, they will proceed straight to classrooms. Students will not sit in hallways before
school this year.
Breakfast is served 7:30-7:50. Students eating breakfast at DWE, will go to the Cafeteria before going to the
classroom. Students will be seated apart. Siblings may eat together.
DO NOT DROP STUDENTS OFF AT DWE BEFORE 7:30! DUE TO COVID-19 SAFETY, WE CANNOT HAVE UNSUPERVISED GROUPS
OF CHILDREN CONGREGATING OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL.

Pre-K 11:20-11:30 Walk through lunch line and go to class

Students will eat with their homeroom class in the cafeteria. Tables will be spread out to keep homerooms separated.
Library Procedures
□ 10 minutes rotation between classes to disinfect
□ Students use hand sanitizer when they come in and after browsing books
□ Online training on using SORA/ Destiny and Databases
□ 4 Day quarantine period for books using carts, bins or boxes
Outdoor Learning Locations/Recess
DWE will offer students two recess opportunities each day. Students will stay with their homeroom class in their assigned zone during recess.

Students listed as Bikers/walkers are expected to walk home. Parents may not park or drive on campus to retrieve

ON CAMPUS: YMCA AFTERSCHOOL CARE
The Lake Houston YMCA provides after school
care in the DWE Cafeteria until 6:30 p.m.
every day.
Parents register and pay directly with the YMCA.

● Due to safety, students may not be picked up from YMCA After School Care during DWE Dismissal.
● Starting at 3:45, YMCA students may be picked up at the Cafeteria Doors.

ON CAMPUS: MEALS AT DWE VISIT HUMBLE ISD’S Child Nutrition Webpage TO:❏ Set up an online account! This is the preferred way for parents
to add money to their child’s account. It also allows parents to monitor a child’s purchases.

LUNCH INFORMATION:❏ In addition to meals, a variety of snacks and frozen treats are
also for sale at an additional cost in the Cafeteria.❏ Lunch visitors are not allowed this year.❏ Forgotten lunches can be dropped off in the front vestibule. ❏ Outside lunches from area delivery services are not allowed
for students and will not be accepted.
ON CAMPUS:Birthday Recognitions at DWE
Parents are permitted to recognize a child’s birthday by sending treats for the child’s homeroom class to have during lunch.
□ Parents are encouraged to buy frozen treats from our cafeteria for all students in the class to recognize their child’s birthday.
□ If you do choose to send in treats, please check with Nurse Jones first regarding any allergies in the class. Send in one treat per child, such as cookies or cupcakes.
□ The following items are NOT allowed at DWE to recognize birthdays: invitations, balloons, goodie bags, gifts, candles, flowers, party hats, etc.

Teach your child to tie his/her jacket around his/her waist when
outside, rather than laying it on the ground. Due to CoVid-19, students may not go through a bin of lost &
found items.
Keep a jacket/sweater in backpack. Classrooms can get
chilly!
