First impressions count. You only have a few seconds to capture someone’s attention. It’s important to get it right.

CRAFTING YOUR SHORT STORY

The KeyCommunicate just enough about your business to leave them wanting to know more. Intrigue them, but not so much that they miss the key points.

Craft Your Short StoryYour story should be compelling and authentic. It should touch upon the most important things – your Why, the brand and a reason to consider Rodan + Fields®. It should be succinct and come across naturally in a conversation.

Here are some questions to help you craft your short story. Keep answers short and to the point.

1. What was your background prior to joining Rodan + Fields?

2. How were you introduced to Rodan + Fields?

3. What was the one thing that impressed you the most?

4. What results have you experienced by using the products?

5. How is your Rodan + Fields business making a difference for you?

Refine And PracticeYour short story will be more effective if it is targeted towards the person you are meeting. Share information that resonates with their background and interests. Many successful Consultants have different short stories depending upon who they are speaking with and what about Rodan + Fields might appeal to them.

Refine your story, and practice regularly. Weave in new experiences you have had along the way.

Your business grows through conversations with people. From building a team to bringing on new Customers, it all begins with building a robust list and opening the conversation.

Tips For Building Your List § Be open to anyone. Every connection could lead to an

opportunity to build your business. Learn to listen for opportunities to bring your business up in conversation.

§ Don’t let names build up on your list without calling them. If you don’t call them, someone else will.

§ Always keep your list with you. You never know when you will have an opportunity to add someone new. Remember to ask for a prospect’s contact information in addition to giving them your information.

CONNECTING TO YOUR NETWORK

FOR U.S.A. ONLY

To continue building your list and tracking progress, use the Managing Your List document.

Your network is one of the most valuable assets in your Rodan + Fields® business. Develop your connections and cultivate those relationships.

Use the following three exercises to add to your list:

3 Random Association:

§ Close your eyes and think of a totally random word. Try “Peanut Butter.”

§ Who is the first person that comes to mind? Did you ever think of them before?

§ Research into creativity shows that opening new neuropathways can often lead to new ideas and new ways to look at a situation. Try it the next time you feel stuck.

1 People You Know:

§ Take a moment and write down the names of all the people you know. Don’t overthink it and don’t prejudge.

§ This may seem easy, but you will be surprised how many people you know. This can range from friends to family to people you know in your community. Write them all down.

§ Go through your contact lists (phone/planner, Facebook, LinkedIn). The Memory Jogger can also be a helpful tool.

2 Experiences You Have Had:

§ Think about a time when you were with a group of people who accomplished something that made you proud.

§ Who was with you? Who were the people who put in the extra effort? Who was that person who stayed positive no matter what happened? Are these people on your list?

§ By thinking about people with traits that you admire, you can think more broadly about the people you can introduce to Rodan + Fields®.
