Technology background
•Technology originated from Sandia National Labs.
•Thousands of similar H2 sensors are installed in various industries such as petroleum refineries, chemical processing, nuclear power plants and fuel cells. These sensors are monitoring for Hydrogen in high pressure/highly corrosive gas streams.
•The sensor has been modified to measure Hydrogen in transformer tank (oil and headspace).
•Multiple sensing elements are used to give a wide range of H2 measurement from <10 ppm to >20,000 ppm.
•On-board temperature control circuit is compensating for external fluctuations and provide accurate Hydrogen measurement
•Improvements have been made to improve stability and sensitivity:
• Semi-permeable coatings to block interference gases
• Advanced algorithms to measure and eliminate drift

H2 sensing technology and H2 measurement
1. Pd catalyzes H2 (molecular) into 2H (atomic)
2. Hydrogen absorbed into the Pd/Ni alloy lattice creates changes in Charge Density
and Bulk Resistivity
-Hydrogen Sensing Capacitor (HCAP) measures Hydrogen from 0.0015% to 0.5%
-Hydrogen Sensing Resistor (HRES) measures Hydrogen from 0.5% to 100%
A heater and a temperature sensor are embedded with the chip.

Overview - Proof of Performance and Operation Program (PoPOP)Program’s objective: To demonstrate the sensor’s operation and performances in transformer’s headspace and/or transformer oil.
The PoPOP is addressed to: Utilities/industrials that are new users of InsuLogix™H.
Program’s duration: Up to three months.
WEIDMANN’s commitment:
-To supply one or two monitors free of charge, for a duration that will not exceed three months.
-Provide an applications engineer to supervise the first installation, free of charge.
-Provide three syringes for oil sampling/monitor, and perform three DGA for each unit, free of charge.
Customer’s commitment:
-Install the monitor(s)
-participate in monthly conference calls with WEIDMANN to discuss the monitor(s) operation and performance
- Download the database and transmit it to WEIDMANN at least twice during the trial period, draw oil samples at installation, 30 days and 60 days periods, send the oil samples to WEIDMANN for analysis.
-pay for the monitors at the end of the trial period, subject to monitor(s) performance and operation. Return the monitor(s) to WEIDMANN if their operation is not judged as satisfactory.
