Uniform Shop...Mr Shaun Luong from Image Embroidery, a local uniform supplier, has supplied uniforms to our school for the past few years. For some time now we have been considering moving our school uniform shop offsite, and after careful consideration and consultation, it has been decided this change will now go ahead. The uniform shop as of the end of this year, will be located at 26 Tulloch Way Canning Vale - a five minute drive from our school.

This move will:- free up much needed office space- offer families more flexibility - ie more opening

days and more hours to purchase items- offer greater capacity for try ons- free up staff and parent volunteers from having

to conduct audits, manage stock and open onsite.

- mean more available stock

In addition,

- Shaun will continue to work closely with us - he will manage the removal of all stock to his

premises- he will buy back this stock at the end of the

year- PP try ons for Year One may still happen here

each year, but be conducted by Image Embroidery staff.

- uniforms will still be able to be ordered online.

We are indebted to Julie, Sharon and Kylie for their efforts in managing the Uniform Shop for us and to those parents before them! Many thanks.

A Change to our Speech Service...Dear St Emilie’s Families, I am writing to inform you that as at the end of this term, Mrs Wendy Marshall, who has coordinated the wonderful Speech Therapy Service in our school for a number of years now, will very sadly be leaving us. This was a difficult decision for her to make as she has been very much part of the St Emilie’s community for a long time now. Suffice to say, Wendy will be extremely missed by children, staff and families alike. Wendy’s exemplary skill, knowledge, hard work and care have been simply second to none, however, as difficult as it is to say goodbye to a colleague and friend, we support her decision and thank her most sincerely for all that she has done for us. We are so grateful for the incredible legacy she leaves behind. On the next page, Wendy has given details of the Speech Therapist who will be taking over the service here at St Emilie’s in 2021 and we feel confident that Elle Mangen and her team are very well placed to carry on the excellent work that Wendy has begun. We will be in touch with those families who are directly affected by Wendy’s departure shortly, and we will support you, your child and the new therapy team to have as smooth a transition as possible. I would urge you all to please send your personal thanks to Wendy over the next few weeks for her incredible contribution to your child's progress and to our school. Thank you everyone, we feel very confident in Elle and in our plan moving forward. On behalf of the whole St Emilie community I wish the very special Wendy Marshall nothing but the best for the future and thank her sincerely for the many young lives she has profoundly helped through her incredibly important work.Kindest regards,Tania Thuijs

A Note from Wendy Marshall...

To the Wonderful St Emilie’s Families, Thank you for your support of your child’s speech pathology program at St Emilie’s. For some families this has been more recently, and for others it has been over the last several years. It has been an honour and a privilege to work at St Emilie’s delivering speech pathology services to your child. The busyness of the service, which has grown beyond my expectation, is a testament to your family’s commitment to your child’s success – both academically and socially. My sons are now in high school, with my eldest commencing Year 11 in 2021. After some re-evaluation of my family-work balance, I have decided to reduce my work hours next year, so that I can be more available to the boys as they commence their journey into upper school. To this end, I have had to make the very difficult decision to handover the speech pathology program to Elle Mangen from Be Vocal Speech Pathology at the end of this year. Elle is a dynamic, passionate and skilled speech pathologist, whom I know will carry the torch for your child as they move through their speech, language and learning programs. She has been part of the Speech Superheroes team since Term 4 2020. I have every faith that she will provide an exceptional service, with the support of her Be Vocal team, for many years to come (www.bevocal.com.au).

We are currently in the process of arranging handover, with the final handover occurring during the January holidays. I will be available to Elle at anytime, should she have any queries or questions, and to provide any support or guidance in the New Year. I have every faith that it will be a smooth transition, with Elle providing exceptional, organised and skilled services to St Emilie’s. I look forward to seeing your child during the last weeks of term – speech pathology services will continue as per normal in Weeks 7 and 8 of this term. Thank you again to you all, take care, Wendy

St.Emilie’s Mothers Group (MoPS) will celebrate life, catching up over Morning Tea on Tuesday 24th November – 9 to 10:30am at St.Emilie’s small School hall.

MoPS is an endeavour to cheer mums on, in their journey of motherhood and bring perspective on mothering, womanhood and relationships. It is a safe place to build relationships and create a welcoming environment for children, appreciating their eternal worth.

Inviting all mums to make brave choices in doing new things and to come together as we plan ahead for the New Year –

We are looking for a team of carers and mentors, role models and prayer warriors…if you feel called to support mums and their little ones, in any capacity, please do get in touch with us.

We have a group of 8-10 mums who have confirmed attendance so far. Also in attendance this meeting we will have the Regional Leader for MoPS and Denise from Connections Counselling as our guest speaker. We also have a few Uni students( 2 or 3 including my daughters) volunteering to take care of the littlies – in the room adjacent - so we are visually connected.

Sonia Pinto (my next daughter begins in Kindy next year!)

Confirmation 2020

Graduation 2020

To meet COVID requirements in the church, the Confirmation Masses for St Emilie’s School students 2020 have been rescheduled until next year. The Parish have settled on Pentecost 2021 for these to be celebrated.

Year Six families are asked to please go to schoolinterviews.com.auand enter the code 29y2v to book a Confirmation Mass date for 2021:

Please note that while we are fully aware that some schools and parishes are not observing social distancing requirements and running Confirmation masses at this time, we have been consistent in our approach - we follow Government directions and … and if everyone jumps off a bridge …

Monday, 7th December5.30pm - 7.15pm

Due to COVID requirements and numbers, we will not be able to hold a Mass in the church this year. The whole Graduation will instead be held in the hall, commencing with a simple prayer reflection.

Please note that we only have enough seating in the hall for the Graduate and two adults per family. Apologies, however arrangements will need to be made for siblings. A light supper will be provided under COVID conditions.

Dear Parents

As the end of the year approaches, some families may choose to leave Western Australia to travel to interstate or overseas destinations. As the COVID-19 pandemic is constantly evolving, sometimes rapidly, you are encouraged to evaluate the necessity and impact of planned travel over the upcoming Christmas holiday break. For example, the Western Australian state government requires overseas travellers to undertake mandatory quarantine in a Perth hotel at their own expense.

Should you choose to travel, you are asked to consult the following websites and contact numbers to inform yourself about border restrictions, exemptions and quarantine requirements:

Entry to Australia Entry to Western AustraliaWebsite: COVID-19: Entering Australia Website: COVID-19: Entering Western Australia Phone: 1800 020 080 Phone: 13 26 843

TRAVEL EXEMPTION SUPPORT LETTERS: INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

Students who intend to travel to/from overseas destinations who are not listed in the Australian travel exemption categories require two official letters to support their applications to return to Australia:

1. A confirmation of enrolment letter from Lisa Rodgers, Director General of the Department of Education, Western Australia

2. A travel support letter from Dr Andrew Robertson, Chief Health Officer, Western Australia.

If you require these forms they are only accessible through the school. Please contact the Office.

Dear Families,

Given the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in South Australia, it is timely for us all to resist becoming complacent. Good hygiene practices and ongoing vigilance are essential. In the event of a cluster outbreak in Western Australia, the government have undertaken to act swiftly and decisively. While the risk in our state remains very low, community cooperation is essential.

CHANGES TO THE WA BORDER ARRANGEMENT WITH SOUTH AUSTRALIAAs you would be aware, the WA government has reintroduced a ‘hard border’ for people entering the state from South Australia. This parallels the requirements for entry of persons from New South Wales and Victoria.

Anyone seeking approval to enter WA who has been in South Australia, New South Wales or Victoria in the previous 14 days will need to apply through the government G2G PASS (see G2G Pass for Travel to WA).

People permitted entry from South Australia, New South Wales or Victoria will need to self-quarantine at suitable premises for 14 days. If suitable premises are not available, they will be housed at a COVID-19 quarantine hotel at their own expense. Suitable premises are defined as premises where a person:

- has access to a private bedroom and bathroom- is able to receive food, toiletries and medication without making contact with people

delivering these items;- is not self-isolating at premises where elderly, immune-compromised people or persons- who have underlying medical conditions

Additionally, arrivals from these states will be subject to a COVID-19 test within 48 hours of arrival and on day 11 of quarantine, or at any point when symptoms develop. The current WA Health Department advice is that children or staff members who are living in a house where a person is self-quarantining can attend school or work as long as the above conditions are met. This also applies to parents who could be visiting school.
