A Note from the Editor
Another has come and gone and we are now stuck in
between all the holidays period. From Christmas to New Year
and to Chinese New Year next. Time sure flies when youre
having fun. Just be sure to ride whenever you can so you
wont feel so guilty wolfing down all the yummies these
festive season has to offer.
This year weve got some interesting events planned out for
PCC. For starters, we will be having a family day and all of the
cycling community with their family is invited to spend anafternoon with us. Let your other halves and your kids meet
the people that you run off with at the crack of dawn each
Sunday.
On top of that, our President (Ivan Chan) along with a few
others (VongVongVong, Soh, Don Chan, Annie, etc.) have
planned an interesting route for 2009s Interstate.
Also, our Immediate Past President (Rob) with our Chief
Financial Controller (Yellow Manta) is planning our
Presidential 2009 route. Yup, Presidential is back this year!
Keep an eye out on this years calendar and block off your
dates.
Also a little note to wish Mr Tan Boon Foo a very happy
birthday as he turned 21 year old last Tuesday. May he be
blessed with a lot of business and we in turn enjoy the
discounts for the countless BMCs, Scotts, Campagnolos and
XTRs that he will give us. ;)

Mud + Dirt by The English Nose
Putrajaya Bike park is turning out, by all accounts, to be a very decent place to ride for a beginner or the experienced
rider. Ive not been there yet so am itiching to give it a try. (Which is why we are going back there again this weekend
Ed) Its a purpose built collection of trails designed for cross country, downhill and freeride. Not very many km of XC
trails as of yet so well probably do a couple of loops and explore generally.
The week ahead M + D Sunday rides 18 January 2009
Date: 18 January 2009
Location: Putrajaya Bike Park
Ride distance: 10km +/- (Depending on how many loops you do)
Ride description: Flowing trails with some very fast downhill sections, nicely cambered berms, table tops, and
some sweet single track. For beginners, go slow and its quite enjoyable. A great place to get
used to steep down hills as the trails are smooth and clear. A definite stepping stone to tackling
the more technical, rutty, rooty Kiara.
How to get there:
Those who have easy access to the new KL-Putrajay highway (E20 aka MEX) that starts from Kampung Pandan
roundabout (other access points are available at the E10 interchange and at Sri Petaling. We meet at the R&R place
about 15km from KL on the long straight bit. We depart from here at 7:45am
Contact for those meeting at this R&R: Rob on 012 6191 308
From LDP, follow this in the direction of Putrajaya. Double park afterthe last toll before hitting the long stretch towards
MARDI /Marriot. FYI, Before the Toll is a Shell petrol station. We depart from here at 7:45am
Contact for those meeting at this R&R: Adrian 012 383 2618
Those who know where it is...see you there.
Upcoming M&D Rides
25 Jan 09 Sg Pening Pening (25km)
01 Feb 09 Batu Dam (18km)

Woohoos by The English Nose
Back in the groove.
It was my first ride of 2009 and what better place to ride than the
classic prison loop. Thats from Kajang Perdana over the hill to
Nirvana and back via the chicken run and quarry. 27km on total.
It was a fine day for it and we had a good few riders (about 35) there
with a bunch from Seremban too. Patrick decided to turn up too at
some point after arriving late and catching up.
We were up and over the hill by 10:30 and found that the of the
wonderful single track downhill to Nirvana had been severely
chewed. Logged and royally shafted.
That meant following my nose to get out to Nirvana. Luckily the
logging truck had used the same road in so it was a simple and open
ride out.
Loh mai gai was closed so we R&Rd at the next stall before heading
off after 11 for the return leg.
Even with a big group we were back without drama by 12:30 thanks to
the coordination on walkie-talkies with Pete at the back, TT Gan mid-
way and me at the front.

El Misty Ride
Really? Lucky Im still growing up. Or maybe it was the beautiful & near
perfect cycling weather. Whatever it was, for once I enjoyed riding up
this beast. Seems everyone who had a road bike was out here on Sunday
last. We started at our usual Community Centre and proceeded with a
warm-up ride towards Bt 18 and then Genting Peres. The skywards road
snaked steadily along, revealing great expanse of green shrouded in
morning mist on your left.
At the crest, we rested and regrouped before we catapulted ourselves
down the delicious downhill at high speed. Were headed for Sg. Tekala
waterfalls where we would have our first refuel. The expansive sights of
the lake at Semenyih was breathtaking (er, maybe the climbs had
something to do with it as well). Soon we were at the junction of all
junctions: where Neo was when Morpheus offered him the Red & Blue
pill (Matrix). Take the right turn: you wake up and dont remember
anything. Go straight and youll see just how deep the rabbit hole really
goes. Mr. PCC President looked right. He paused. And then he moved his
gaze towards the road to Sg. Tekala. He blinked, twice. He looked at
Mrs. Prez and me. And then Mr., Mrs. Prez and me took the right turn
and it was all good. The allure of the sweet sugar cane drink was just too
much. The bestest sugar cane!
We were soon at Ulu Langat town (Bt14) and we helped ourselves to
some hot food. Soon, everyone who took the Red pill started streaming
in. A sedate ride for me, which I must say was really enjoyable. Thanks
to everyone for a safe ride and their camaraderie.

Spare Wheels Project
Your friends have heard you rant about the drops and
the endos and have seen the breathtaking scenery
from your flickr, Facebook and not to forget the fridge
door photos.
They finally want to get off their bum and join you for
a ride but running behind you, sitting on your top tube
or dinking them are probably not the best ways for
them to experience it with you. Of course, he/she
could be shit hot, then no one would probably say
anything.
In any regards, PCC has the SPARE WHEELS PROJECT
underway. Currently made up of generous owner's
bikes, they are available for people to borrow and
ride. Some of them have been ridden more than the
villageernever mind. They've been ridden a lot.
Boon Foo has recently offered his assistance to put
together a few hard tails, and together with what we
have now, we should be able to cater for height
ranging from Snow White's pals to the Yang Mings
who want to give this ago.
In all SERIOUSNESS, if you have someone who wants
to join us for a ride, please do not hesitate to drop us
a line and we WILL do our best to get them a bike for
the next suitable ride. Take note that there will be a
$15.00 charge to cover expenses such as ferrying thebike around, washing it and of course its ongoing
maintenance.

PEDAL TO CRANK Get to know your PCC Riders....
DON HEAD OF STATES CHAN
PCC TAR & GRIME DIRECTOR 2009
Don Chan as fondly known as Don Corleone or The Godfather,
has done ALL the Interstate Rides by PCC ever since the dawn of
time. As usual, a tell all session by our very own Godfather to give
you an insight on how he runs his business.
1. When did you start riding and who got you involved?
Have been riding since a young boy. Rode everywhere: to tuition,
to soccer, to mini market, to go fishing. Life was a whole lot
simpler then. I joined PCC to check out the hot chicks. So there,
the hot chicks got me involved.
2. Why did you start riding? No driving license and more importantly, no car.
3. Why do you continue riding?
Hot chicks have since come and gone. Now I keep the older chicks
company... :)
It's a great way of keeping fit and meeting new friends. I guess you
could say the camaraderie within PCC is what keeps me coming
back for more torture every Sunday.
4. What (or Who) do you ride now? Give us the juicy details.
have 3 bikes:
A Scott Ltd hardtail with a mix of XT & SLX parts, Avid mech discbrakes, Marzoochi Z3 front end & Mavic 519 wheels;
A Specialized Tarmac SL road bike with full 7800 Durace groupset
& Zipp 404 tubular as well as Durace 7850 24CL wheels; and
a Peugeot mtb converted into a touring bike with a mixture of
road & mtb parts.
5. What and why (is it) your favourite trail?
Hmm, tough choice. For an easy and flatter ride, I guess it'll have
to be CentrePoint to Ijok. Think about it. You get a great cardio
workout, you're done before it gets real hot & you have the rest of
the day to spend with friends & loved ones.
However, my favourite would be toss up between Kuala Kubu
Baru to Gap (60km) or Genting Sempah Rest area to Bentong
(70km). I find the former tougher but nothing beats the fresh air
and low vehicular traffic there. The latter offers much of KKB ride
offers, but it's nearer & not as taxing on my hot body.
6. What type of rider would you consider yourself?
I am a cycling enthusiast. I like ride riding at my optimal and
always look to improve myself. Once in a while, I like to make the
younger men suffer...muahahahaha.
7. What is your dream bike?
Dream bike? I guess I would like to have a custom-made Titanium
road bike with lots of engravings, cool lugs and nice artwork on
headtube. But I'll settle for a MOOTS compact Vamoots.
8. What is your favourite ride food (include drink)
Muesli bars, hydrating salts & Accelerade. If Perli is not reading
this, I like KFC, Bak Kut Teh and cendol.
9. Do you fantasize about riding when you are not?
Are you nuts? I'm always riding.....are we talking about cycling
now?
10. Do you or did you sleep naked with your bike?
I plead the fifth on this. No comments
